PS - On one occasion, my books went to Imaging after QC, then Shipping. That would mean they wanted to take a picture of one or more of the books you submitted for their Featured Comics section. Someday I hope to submit another book or two worthy of Imaging.

I get images of all of my books just "because" I can't wait for them to get here. I get an early peek and CBCS gets extra money, so it all works out

I may be off on this, but wouldn't scanning the books add to TAT? After all, it's no longer a simple grade and slab. Granted they got it done in a timely fashion this round...

I got my June 7th books back in mid January.

I would think you may still have a few weeks ahead of you.

On the plus side...once my statuses??? stati??? started moving they moved quickly through the progression!!

Yes please! Since those with press vs. those w/o press seem to differ by .... ohh... a half million years or so

I submitted an order back in August and was promised a 6 week turnaround. It’s now February and the order is still “processing” I called and emailed dozens of times. As per Stacy. I’m looking at waiting another 20 more weeks?! I’ve actually lost out on half a dozen buyers for this book and thousands of bucks because of this. Anyone else have this issue?

My books were received and paid for on the spot cash they had it in file aug and for no reason canceled. And then bright back September and it’s just been in limbo since then. It’s freaking February! Is this ok?

Was your order sent for pressing? If not, please PM me and I will look into your order.

They marked as received on August 14th, submitted at a con about 10 days prior. Included 6 for press and one for VSP. Would have been delivered Friday, but I wasn't home. Just a hair over 25 weeks. The press increased grade on basically all of them by 2-4 grades depending on book; including 2 that went from 8.0-8.5 range to 9.2 and 9.4 respectively. A couple have I don't know if big is the right word; noticeable? pieces of plastic in the case that I'd prefer weren't there, but otherwise they look great.

Ok. Who else has this problem with CBCS grading and pressing? I turned in several books back in OCTOBER 1,2019 and was told it would take up to 14 weeks to have it pressed and graded. Well, it is well past 14 weeks. I called and they said they are just now pressing them and it would take another 12 WEEKS to get them graded. This seems unreasonable to me, This was the first time I used their pressing service and I am VERY disappointed about the time frame.

Please be aware that my comments are not directed at anyone in particular, but I keep seeing the same type of posts over and over again.

In my opinion, this thread should be used to gauge how long actual TATs are running. People post when they get notified that their books are ready for shipping, or when they receive them back, and usually state when they submitted them. So if anyone reads this thread, you will know that current TATs for books submitted for pressing and grading are around 6 months. This is not, and never has been, a secret. And believe it or not, pressing TATs have been slowly improving.

If you submit books just for grading, expect around a 6 week TAT. That is an incredible improvement over the several month TATs for just grading services last year. That's another reason I believe pressing TATs will get better too.

That is just the way it is right now. Unless you submitted during a Promotion that guaranteed a specific TAT (and those promotions have not included pressing) then your TATs are not guaranteed.

Pressing TATs will only improve as backlog decreases to nothing. If fewer people choose in-house pressing and get pressing done by locals to themselves, CBCS will have less to do. It’s just normal. Pure grading TATs have bern decreasing steadily...i don’t like the specific TAT specials; makes me think they’re rushing things and grades will be wrong.

I promise you that we are not rushing anything, we are just working longer hours. I got here at 5:30am today and work almost every Saturday. We at CBCS actually take pride in our grading. I might have no life, but I get to look at funny books all day and still take pride in my work. I love this hobby!

I know no one means to rush it, Steve, but it can happen anyway. Self-imposed pressure...and all those extra hours cannot be good for the eyes or mind!!

I have some more rarities i’ve been thinking of submitting, along with a regrade after i had a book cleaned and pressed after i accidentally stepped on and broke the slab.

I have been professionally grading for so long that I know when "burn out" is about to hit.
I take a break from grading every hour as to clear and re-focus my eyes.
I leave the last order I graded that day in the safe and look at it again the next day to make sure I am as consistent as possible.
As for my mind.....I lost it a long time ago! Darn funny books!

@dogspreme CBCS pressing is indeed backed up right now and from what I am receiving back and from what some other people have posted, they are working on comics received back in July & August. Don't know who told you what or where you saw it, but as mentioned by others, right now you can expect appx a 6mo tat when press is involved. That said, I suspect that the press TAT will drop back down to a more normal 10-12 week (in addition to the 4-6 week grading TAT) once they finish with the massive SDCC submission that some joker dropped off.

Here's the timeline for me on 3 orders I took to the Dallas office on 1/17/20. I submitted a total of 10 books and filled out 3 different invoices. Invoice #1 3 Modern Books with Fast Pass, Invoice #2 4 Copper Age / Modern books for standard grading, Invoice #3 3 books to be signed by Donny Cates & witnessed during the CBCS public signing / grading expo.

Invoice #1 entered into the system on 1/23 and was ready for pick up on 1/27 (10 days after drop off)
Invoice #2 entered into the system on 1/23 and was ready for pick up on 2/3 (17 days after drop off)
Invoice #3 entered into the system on 1/21 and was ready for pick up on 2/10 (24 days after drop off)

Pressing may be holding up orders but books not needing to be pressed are flying through the process.

@Scifinator Today I'm at 7 Months for my 1 book (Press/2 ASP/1 VSP) dropped off on 7/6/19 and logged in by CBCS on 7/13/19. As of this morning my book is still listed as "submitted" so I think I am looking at least another 30-60 days.

I hear you, but, you are not necessarily another 30-60 days out. As an example, one of my July submissions was still marked as "Submitted" this last Monday (Feb 10th), and yesterday it was moved all the way to "Grading / Labels". So, that order will likely ship sometime between the end of this week and two weeks from now based upon my shipments the past two months. Not saying you won't see your shipment take that long, just saying you may get back sooner than you think at this point.

Cheers!
