I haven’t been able to top mycomicshop.com. Preorders are a good deal then you can piggyback other orders to the pending preorder. Saves on shipping. Free bags and boards too. Can’t speak to the others in your list.

I’m considering starting that business. Would this be something you would consider? And besides those items above, what else would you like to see?

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Midtown does discounts on preorders and pull list, along with regular sales. Everything is shipped in a bag and board and packaged reasonably (although I only get multiple items at a time; don't know how they would do with a single issue). Shipping is not free, but usually gets overwhelmed by the discounts. I don't think they guarantee 9.8s. They sell statues and have sections on the website for 'action figures' and 'collectibles' but I've never looked at them. I'm not sure what you would consider an 'incentive', but they do get their own variant covers sometimes and also hold signings at their stores. Sometimes signed (new) comics are sold for cover price. I've also noticed that they've started selling some graded comics from those signings. |

Welp, any comic shop is probably better than this style of ***hole shipping. |

I have been using Atomic Empire. Site is super-easy to use, which I love. They've only screwed up a couple times in the last 2-3 years, but they don't fix their screw-ups, which really bothers me. Two times recently: they shorted my order on Batgirl Middleton variant #23 ... a beautiful cover that is now $60-$80 on eBay.I didn't even notice for a month because their system said it was in my shipment, up until AFTER it shipped. (Mine ship once a month.) That is, I checked, figuring this one would sell out quick, and was tricked into thinking I was good. So I didn't try to pick it up locally. No email alert that it was shorted, either, which REALLY bothers me. Just friggin TELL me, and I'll make arrangements. There are ten comic stores near me. I just need to know. Anyway, I also ordered one copy of Batman Damned when it came out (from them). It is oversize, but they used the same style box. So the comic was right up against the edge of the box. It came with a serious corner bend, knocking it down to a 9.0 or 9.2. A press might fix it, but that will be expensive, since I don't have any other magazine-sized comics to press. Well ... they are 97% acceptable. Barely any shipping problems. Easy to use. Big discounts (30% for my tier). Bidding on incentive variants. Free (cheap) bags and boards. HOWEVER ... I just got my first shipment from DCBS, as a test. BEAUTIFUL packaging. Also, they let you buy mylites and half or full backs for each comic, which is awesome, 'cause that's what I use. I am thinking about switching to them, but it looks like you kind of have to order way in advance? Still figuring it out. |

@Tedsaid I also use Atomic Empire and I’ve really liked them. I like that you can choose which and how many copies of upcoming variants you want for upcoming issues, and I love that you can add orders to ship with your subscription. Unfortunately, if your order is rather small I think they ship in an envelope which resulted in damage to a couple of orders. For each order though they added copies of the damaged books to my next order for free and gave me a refund for the books they didn’t. After the second time I was able to make arrangements so that my orders always ship in a box, regardless of size |

Quote:Originally Posted by Tedsaid This reminds me of one complaint I have with midtown - I use their pull list, and you can add items to it. I like that part because you can make sure you have something before it sells out but still get it shipped in one batch to keep the price down. BUT, I haven't figured out a way to look at my order until it ships once a month. I know what's on my pull list but I could accidentally order two of some other book, or zero. |

I use www.dcbservice.com for preorders. However - you need to order 2 months in advance. For true-up orders after dcbsservice closes their preorders I use www.tfaw.com For closer to release I use a number of different sites |

When I called customer service, I was basically told that if I wanted better packing, I should order more books. |

@VaComicsGuy that's a real rooster-sucker response from customer service. Perhaps everyone just has their own unique experiences with every online sub service.

I've never ordered from DCBS. If I have, I can't remember but this week I have heard MULTIPLE stories of a mistake they made with the J. Scott Campbell Daredevil variant. This variant was supposed to be a 1:100 variant but DCBS presold them as a regular variant at cover price when they were doing there preorder sales two months ago. And guess what? They fulfilled EVERY order. That is why I am looking into moving my online subscription to DCBS. |
