CBCS GradedCBCS Pressing

Just mailed off my first submission!22192

After months of debate and inevitably tracking down this issue for a good price. Just as quickly as I received this beauty, it’s off to be pressed and slabbed. I ended up submitting this alongside my annual #1 (both first prints). I got them both pressed, because why not? I have a feeling my annual may be lower 9’s since it was my reader copy, but it’s pretty minty besides a few spine tears.

I submitted them both at the lowest priority, just to get a feel for the process. I have a feeling I’ll be waiting about 2.5 months, but if that’s wishful thinking please shoot it down. I plan on doing a larger and higher-priority submission after my Megacon Orlando trip. Thank you to everyone for all the tips on my last post!

I don't want to brag, but cashiers are always checking me out. power_struggle55 private msg quote post Address this user
did the same thing for my submission (at a con). did one comic (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #9.) just to get a feel of whole process and time (took over a year but was just due to everything at the time but now takes very little time even at cheapest)

@power_struggle55 A lot of the mega-con solicitations for signings offer a CBCS fee being waived. I wonder if they’ll be at mega con.

If you don’t mind me asking, how was the in person submission process? If I can submit at megacon I will gladly take the opportunity, less for me to worry about traveling with in the way home.

I assume CBCS offers in person submission at select events?

@MattSolar Unfortunately I do not think CBCS will be there. They haven't posted any cons and if they aren't listed on Megacon's website. They didn't go last year and I suspect they won't be there this year,

There is one thing I really like about Megacon, they will refund your tickets if you request a refund early enough. I had VIP tickets and I was really looking forward to the show. I started looking at guests a couple weeks ago and there weren't many. They added quite a few recently but nobody I really need to get signatures from. The fact that CBCS won't be there and the reduced guest list, I decided to request a refund. Last year CBCS suggested some vendors you can get to witness, but they really can't handle all the CBCS witness requests. PSA, CBCS's new parent company will be there but there is no word whether they will take CBCS submissions or witness requests.

One thing they could be affecting the guest list is the new Visa policy the government has initiated. The government has made getting Visa's very difficult. I suspect a lot of the international artists have chosen not to attend because of it. I see Jock's name on the list and I wanted my Brazilian version of Detective Comics #880 and the Absolute Joker cover 1:50 retailer incentive signed and graded by Jock and Snyder. With no witnesses from CBCS and the huge lines Snyder and Jock will have, I opted out.

Good luck and enjoy the show. It has gotten more pop culture than comic centric but there are still quite a few vendors and artists that still attend. Even with the horrendous fee they charge.

@Belarak I’m still all in for Mega-Con. I have a ticket for the Capullo Snyder Signing and plan on pre purchasing 1-2 Jim Lee Autos.
Definitely will wait in some lines, especially Javier Fernandez.

CBCS not being there isn’t a huge deal break for me but I’ll definitely swing by PSA and see if they’re accepting submissions on behalf. But honestly, not that big of a deal. I know it’ll be fun regardless, plus it’ll be my first year attending a large comic convention that isn’t NYCC. All to say I’m excited town change of scenery location and I think their roster of comic artists is right up my alley this year.

@MattSolar Word of warning. In the past few years Megacon has been terrible at showing where the artists are. I have spent literally a couple hours looking for artists there. If you walk down the left side of the floor you will come to the start of artist alley. It curves around to the back wall and goes all the way to the edge of the celebrity area. Most of the top artists are on that U shaped aisle. The problem is some end up in the middle of the vendors and they can be difficult to find. If you've been to NYCC you know how they have a list of artists by row and booth. Megacon hasn't done that in the past. Maybe they'll fix it this year. They do have a list of the artists in the program but that doesn't always help. I've even asked the information booth where an artist was and they had no clue. Also be aware some artist cancel and they are still in the program. That can be REALLY confusing. CBCS used to help me find them but if they're not there...

I don't know how convenient it is for you to travel to Charlotte but HeroesCon is VERY comic centric and I don't think you'll ever see a show with more artists. Unfortunately CGC is in the second year of a three year exclusive contract. CBCS will NOT be there. I love that show but I'm considering skipping that one too. I've heard Baltimore is another great show but CGC did the exclusive rights thing last year and it's possible they're doing it again this year.

I’m not sure they know they’re taking one for the team. Drogio private msg quote post Address this user

Jock was charging $50 per signature for Detective 880 at NYCC this past fall. Didn’t matter if it was a facsimile reprint or convention exclusive…all versions.

I’m sure he’ll be looking to upcharge Absolute Batman covers too.

Disappointing.
