Nice books!

This one is low grade, but it's pretty scarce. I often think of getting it restored, but it's probably best to leave it as is.

What's wrong with it? I see some tanning on the cover, but is there more? Very nice book, btw

Some tape right where the girl is. It's not as noticeable in the scan as it is in hand.

Ah, so the tanning is from the acidity of the tape. Got it

I consider this HIT one of the very best covers of the GA...

Stormy Foster's dizzying bridge-top battle with spies is an amazing mix of perspective and anatomical accuracy. Reed Crandal's depiction is interesting for another reason. The spies are clearly depicted as Japanese, and the cover date is Dec. 1941 ...on the newsstand Oct. 3rd, two full months before Pearl Harbor! That's almost spooky.

Next up, Stormy Foster's second lead apperance in HIT Comics #19, with another analogically precise Crandall cover...

Hit #18 has the Pennsylvania pedigree, #19 has the Rockford. While a lot of attention is focused on Lou Fine's uniquely stylized cover art, the peak period for HIT's all around excellence begins with Reed Crandall's superb solo cover contributions. Stormy's popular status was short lived though. Stormy dropped from favor by issue #25 and his cover feature was unceremoniously replaced by Kid Eternity and devolved to a mixture.
