I have the original core set arriving in the mail today. The minis are larger scale than some of the other mini games I’ve played so I’m excited to paint them up.

As far as the game is concerned, I’ve read that it is far more interactive with cover and terrain than other games. Where cover is often a static or mostly static element in other games, in this you’re often throwing, being thrown into, or destroying various terrain elements.

Just from glancing at the rules I’m not too big a fan of the fact that it is essentially a 2D game since you’re not dealing with real lines of sight but it does mean it can be played with just flat paper tokens, without even needing the minis or anything.

One thing I do wish the game had was rules for creating/adding your own characters or teams. There are tons of minis but with a universe as wide as Marvel not every character can be represented in an official mini. I’d love to make a Thunderbolts Red and Uncanny X-Force teams. Most of the characters already exist in the game but there are a few that don’t like Red Leader and Red Hulk. There are tools for making custom cards but no guidelines for balancing the character or powers that I’m aware of.

I do have a huge library of 3D Print files for Marvel characters that I can scale down to make my own proxies. I’ve started with the Netflix Daredevil and Punisher but I wanted to hold off on making more u til I have the official ones in hand and can make sure I scale them appropriately. Though, like I said, since they’re not using actual line of sight, the sice of the characters doesn’t matter, only that I’m using the correct size base

It looks neat. I have dabbled in table top games for the last 30 years, but I rarely have time for a good game.

Yeah you really have to make time for it. I’d gotten a Battletech group going with a few friends and co-workers. It was rarely everyone at once but I’d regularly get one or two people a week to play with. I think part of what got them there was that there’d always be dinner for them lol

I’m also interested in checking out the Batman miniatures game but damn, so many miniatures really pile up quickly!

I 3D printed this team for my cousin’s birthday. The way the game works is that each player has a roster of 10 characters along with several objective cards. At the start of the game each player draws one random objective for the game and after the two objectives are revealed you create a strike force of five characters from your roster (limited by the parameters of the objectives) to attempt the mission.

If at least half your strike force has a shared team or affiliation, you can choose to employ that affiliation which opens up new abilities and options.

With this roster of Wolverine, Sabertooth, Deadpool, Domino, Colossus, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Juggernaut, Omega Red, and Cable you’d have the option of X-Men, Weapon X, X-Force, or Brotherhood of Mutant affiliations
