It's all cool. Peace. I didn't get my drivers license until 1975 and my mother told me about this comic shop on Irving St. which I started going to in about 1978-79. I do remember walking into the that store and to my right was the counter and cash register and on the wall above it were many comic books one was that Capt. America 37. I asked how much was it and was told $30.00 or $60.00 in trade. I had recently bought a 3,000 comic book collection for $1,000.00 took what I needed and traded $60.00 worth for that beautiful Capt. America 37 (which I still have). I was sad when it closed.

Sorry for hijacking your thread @BLBcomics.

It actually has to do with the way people pronounced the word detective. In the time Batman debuted the US was filled with newly arrived immigrants. They would struggle with DEtective, and shorthand it to DAtective, or just tective.

How TEC27 was thought up COULD very well be based on this.
