Has anyone else experienced a recent sales surge? I just got a notification that I sold two books through Comiclink and I previously sold my Frankenstein Comics #19 through Ebay about a week ago. Even though they were listed as OBO they all sold for asking price. Maybe I have a short memory and this happens every year around the holidays.

@flanders

As a buyer I noticed that a couple of people had taken absurdly low offers with no negotiations. The she hulk jump rope issue being the best deal, but a swamp thing cpv for a really low price today.

That's good information to have. At least you don't have to try and read between the lines.

I got an email from CBCS/Beckett yesterday with a list of upcoming shows.
There was one in New Braunfels TX called Retromania that was listed.
I don’t see it on the CBCS upcoming shows list.
Is there anyone from CBCS here who can confirm if they will actually be there? If they are, I’ll make the drive and drop off some submissions.

Maybe the sellers clicked the wrong button. I got an offer the other day of $500 for IH 181 8.0Q so there are def people hoping sellers are clicking the wrong button

Does CBCS grade sketch cards, since they have Original Art (OA) offering?

Yes, to both questions. Does the sketch already has a verified signature by CBCS? If it’s sent in slabbed, it’s possible you might only have to pay for a reholder - you should ask someone at CBCS Customer Service about that.

How do I submit on the CBCS website, an ASP book that I want pressed?
Do I click 'Add New Comic' or 'Re-holder'?
- When I tried 'Add New Comic' button, it does not give me the opportunity to enter the CBCS Certification ID, so I'm afraid the CBCS team might think it's a crack-and-reholder only
- When I tried the 'Re-holder' button, the CBCS Certification ID is recognized but I cannot click the 'Press' tick mark.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

@JazzyJeffie I would submit it as a new comic. It's obviously not a reholder so there's no reason to submit it like that, and CBCS will not assume that you want a reholder if you put pressing on the order. As long as you send it in the slab it will keep the ASP. If you're super-worried, write on the invoice that you want it pressed and regraded, not reholdered.

Thanks a lot! Appreciate the guidance. I will do this approach.

@JazzyJeffie I've never sent anything smaller than comic size, but they say they'll grade anything that fits in the holder. I think you would have to submit it as Art. Try asking in the community engagement thread since Wade seems to be in there fairly often. https://forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/20304/page/1/cbcs--community-engagement/

I sell on the comiclink exchange so infrequently that I forget how their process works. Does this sum it up?:

1. After they receive your book(s) you receive no notification or update to your account on their website to indicate that your books have been received.
2. You won't receive any notification that payment has been issued.
3. A check will eventually show up in the mail one day, but there will be no record of this payment or breakdown on their site.

I'm all for being old fashioned as the high anxiety high maintenance customers of today create more work for everyone, but an automated message and record of the sale would be nice.

@flanders You know Comiclink has received your books when the carrier says they were delivered followed by the books appearing in the "My Auctions" section of the web site. It is not necessary to send books in advance if listing them on the Exchange.

You won't receive any notification that payment has been issued.

A check will eventually show up in the mail one day, but there will be no record of this payment or breakdown on their site.

They do send an email message when items sell but that's about it. So yeah, your summation is fairly accurate.

I will say that their finance guy Spencer is VERY accessible if needed for questions, but we've learned just to wait the four weeks after an auction closes before we start wondering about where the payment is.

Not quite, though I’ve seen somewhat edgy homage covers for the book... It was an AC252 (NOT the copy I just bought). The cover didn’t look nearly as nice as the copy I purchased but it was still a contender until I read those grader notes.

This was shared in a Facebook group I am in. It is tape, but the poster said that wasn't any tear that he could find. Someone suggested something about it being used to protect the pages from rust from the staple, but that was a guess. This is the centerfold. Can anyone tell me for sure what this was done for? I've never seen this before.

If you follow the tape through the fold, is it attached to another page? Also, are all the pages there?

@Jesse_O - Could the tape have been used to reattach the centerfold pages, or to prevent them from becoming detached?

That is bizarre. The tape is folded around the bent part of the staple only? Was someone trying to press the book and protect the pages from the staples?

Here's the original post and some other guesses. The tape is just on the staples.

"What do you make of this? It seems to be tape (no longer sticky) but the pages are not tape damaged- possibly restapled with the tape but the staples are clean (but not too clean for me to confirm a restaple) so how to explain the staining/browning?
I’ve never seen this in a book before- I need answers so I can sleep tonight!"

"It's an old type of binding tape. Used to help rebind spines of books. Usually used on thick books. Not common on comic books."

"If someone restapled it, they could of added tape to fill the gap before the new staple and the paper, since it wasn't factory tight."
