It looks like the last one got filled up.

So question on sending in foreign comics with notes, how much is too much?
Example, I'm sending this in soon and i found it has the insert still in it (wasnt even aware of the inserts before) and the insert still has the original seal on it. Is there a way to note the insert is still unopened or is that getting into too much detail for a label?

I typically leave it to the professionals, but I've never sent something unusual. I guess write down what you'd hope to see on the label?

Yes, CGC and CBCS sales values are equivalent....in my opinion, CBCS slabs should command a premium.

I don't disagree with you on that. Just wish more of these cost analysis sites would start including them in their data.

Aye, they do. I have that as well, still learning all it's benefits.

The comic geek thread started (at least) as more of a geeky-questions-about-stuff-in-comics thread, like the physics of superpowers. There was previously a ask-questions-without-starting-a-new-thread thread for random one-off questions like this but it got locked.

Anybody have suggestions for a senior flip phone?

My father had to swap phones because ATT is no longer supporting 3G. Turns out he can't use the phone they replaced it with.

It has to be flip phone and has to be EASY to use. To put it bluntly he doesn't get technology at all. We have had direct TV for over 15 years and he still can't use menu guide or any normal features.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I don't have a suggestion, but dad is in the same boat. He hates the new flip phone he had to switch to with US Cellular. Frankly, it's confusing even for me. I believe his is an LG.

@DrWatson

I just got off the phone with lively, the makers of jitterbug. The phone targets old folks.

30 day money back trial period waived 10 or 20$ shipping i forget which, and had open box for 1/2 off so 50 bux for phone and 35$ activation fee. Fee is 20$ unlimited talk and text per month

If you are curious as to how it is, message me after a month and I can give you a report on how my father does with it.

Edit

Also they are giving me a number to use for those 30 days so I don't have to port my existing number in the event dad doesn't like it

So. I have been watching a lot of you tube comic content commentators' videos lately. One of the popular themes of 2021 was a 50 book challenge where you show your top 50 books.

Maybe I'm wrong in saying this, but some of these folks collections were not that impressive. For some reason, I expected these folks to have extensive collections of nice grails.

Kinda puts a pin in the Balloon thinking these folks know what they are talking about.... =(

@Bronte I too have noticed that the people most likely to post their comics on youtube are not necessarily the ones with the most impressive collections. Probably it's a generational thing.

And I refuse to watch another unboxing video on youtube. If I want to see 60 seconds of comic book reveals drawn out for 30 minutes or more...well we've got @Wmorse for that.

I offered these two books to a collector and said $200 including shipping.

Was this fair or was this a drunken price?

Are you meaning that the posters are young and their collections skew toward modern books?

That could be true, I never thought of that. I started collecting my main books in the 2002 Era so most of my "core" collection is silver age. However, I have been buying a lot of moderns lately for speculation.

So far the most interesting unboxing videos is from I think dragons ink. That guy gets so many mechanical failures from CGC screwing up his books it's not even funny. I mean damn, how can anyone have that much bad luck?

As for unboxing on the forums, I can't take the slow motion unboxing. I guess I'm old. I have no patience for that kinda "stuff".

If those books hit or come near 6.0, that price is a steal. If not, it's a good price. do you have a guesstimated grade?

I know huh? Football is so much more fun to bet on than other sports. If I deposited money now I would probably just blow it all in their online casino section of the site. Get caught up on some rigged virtual slot machine or something.

Slot machines are the devil's work. I remember playing slots in an arcade machine that used tokens. I remember getting out ATM card and blowing like 100$ on slots with no way of winning cash.

After that day, I realized I am a gambleholic and can't get started unless I want to be in debt the rest of my life. I have avoided all forms of gambling since, with exception of lotto tickets every now and again.

@Bronte I heard that gambling addiction is really an addiction to the endorphin release that comes from anticipation. Once I understood that, it put some things into perspective. Comic book speculating is a pretty good substitute because it also scratches that itch. The anticipation of a grade reveal after slabbing feels a lot like the rush of gambling. It also explains why extra long TAT's are so depressing.

Ohio has passed sports betting in venues. The casino here was supposedly turning the buffet area into a sports book. It hasn’t happened yet but maybe by next season. I’ve never been to our casino because I don’t play table games but you better believe I’ll go place bets, drink beer, and watch football there.

I think the 30 is a 6.5 white pages
The 96 I'd say 5.0 due to the distribution over spray though it could grade higher.

I'm not looking to sell them now I just had someone a few months ago ask and after I gave the price I didn't hear back whether I was too expensive, or found something else.

So was just curious what they should and or could fetch?

I want Stafford to fail miserably. It’s petty and it may reflect on me but I’ll just admit it.
