Does CBCS grade trades?

Like, just a regular sized, softcover Trade Paper Back. Only thing different from a normal comic is that it's thicker.

NM, found it here, just had to look harder.

https://www.cbcscomics.com/grading-certification-process

So .24" thick. I think that might cover some of the smaller TPB's, but not the bigger ones.

Cool.

@xvipah what trades in particular are you looking at? Just wondering. Not a big trade collector myself.

@cesidio I'm not really either. But I just got one signed by Neal Adams so I was wondering if I should try to get it encapsulated or not. I'd prolly just sell it either way, but since I don't have a CoA, a verified sig might make it worthwhile. not sure yet.

@xvipah beckett will certify the signature and slab depending on size just not grade it. That's why I'm waiting on the cbcs magazine size slabs. Long story short have some magazine size want graded so can put towards a personal grail.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@cesidio Steve did a podcast recently where he said they were looking at prototypes so maybe this summer, but I would take all time estimates with a grain of salt.

I think this one is close to within the size limits. if it's not .24" it's like, .25

@xkonk I'm doing so. The cgc magazine case leave alot to be desired. Pandemic aside maybe I should start designing my own and see what happens. Been waiting almost 3 years. Cbcs should just use the beckett cases and change lable. Just my honest opinion.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@xvipah - Caution though. It is not just the size, but the paper weight also. Examples of some TPB's that they can and cannot encase at this time:

Obviously I opted to have the CBCS Raw Grade service on TPB's that were either to thick or too heavy.

Not a horrible idea. Did they contact you to give you that option @Scifinator? Or did you include it somewhere when you submitted?

And do they do raw grade/verified signature type stuff?

@xvipah - I do not believe they will VSP a raw grade since it is not as tamper resistant as full encasement. I actually pre-communicated with them as most were dropped off at SDCC. But, I did send some in subsequently and I left notations on the invoice and on the TPB bag to Raw Grade if it could not be encased.

@xvipah No they don’t do signature services with Raw grading

@xvipah no. Will not vsp raw. Has to be done through beckett. This was as three years ago at great lakes comic com

Ok then, so I can try. If it's too thick I can do raw grade and just sell it that way I suppose. Or I could just sell it and be done. Not really a huge TPB fan, I have a few other things from them I'm definitely keeping or getting graded. Not going to keep this either way though.

Steve does talk about magazine slabs in his podcast appearance (here-> https://youtu.be/Zrw3F1C--cg), If I remember right they have a prototype at the moment and more will be announced this summer.

Do you know if when magazine slabs are available if pressing for them will also be an option? Or is it too early to discuss that still?

Can't wait for the larger slabs.
This book got rejected due to its width.
Hoping it can be graded
