SpongeBob Comics #1 sells for $991! Joosh private msg quote post Address this user

I don’t focus on international books, but this German edition of Sensational Spider-Man looks cooler than US version to me.

I got two international edition comics today. They both contain 4 to 5 different stories. The Captain America is a Greek comic and is half black and white and half color. As you look at it, the two pages you see are color. When you turn the page, the next two are black and white. It alternates that way throughout the whole comic. I haven't figured out all the issues yet, but I know the Cap story is from issue #165. The cover art is taken from a panel in the comic.

The Conan comic is from Italy. I am not sure which issue it is yet. And there is a Red Sonya story also!! I know I have read it and it's driving me crazy that I can't remember the issue!!! Anyway, I have fun researching all these.

Edit: the Red Sonja story was originally published in The Savage Sword of Conan #1 in black and white. It was printed in color for the first time in Marvel Feature (1975) #1.

Posted yesterday but received the Italian version of ASM 299 & 300. All color, sturdy production. I was surprised.

Here's a few cheap international editions I got today. One thingI enjoy about foreigns, is they often have interesting back covers. These are some great examples of that and are the basic reason why I got these.

@NScott wow that's an amazing collection. I don't have many foreign books, a couple of my highlights. I like this because of steranko's original version
and this one to complement my tos39

Here are a couple Italian Draculas that I got today. The fumetti is about 130 pages thick and has a picture of Christopher Lee on the back. The second Dracula is magazine sized.

Speaking of La Resa dei Conti. I remembered that is the name of a pretty good spaghetti western with Lee Van Cleef. It has an awful English language release, due to whomever edited it was cutting out lines from conversations in the same scene. So, the complete English language portion has Italian overdubs in those scenes. Hilarious.

with the departure of Tim Bildhauser causing a huge vacuum in the knowledge base for Foreign Comics, i may not be submitting any more of my newly gained non-U.S. books; i had yet to decide what to send in other than a couple of Batman issues (601 Spain & 647 Mexico), one of which would be pink label...so i hadn't submitted anything in a while. i just sent in my Superboy-BI 10 from Brazil, their version of Adventure 247, but not their first Legion issue, to be cracked & regraded/slabbed, but with BETTER information on the label than just "Brazilian Edition." i'll wait to see what comes of this latest submission before making up my mind, but it's highly likely none of my non-u.s. books will end up graded now.

Those are West Germany editions. I hope the weren't trimmed and taken from bound volumes. That's quite a score though!

@NScott When you say West Germany, do you have knowledge of mainstream comics being published in the Eastern Bloc countries? If there were, I would imagine that it would be underground since the various socialist/communist governments controlled the media and wouldn't want anything critical to be said of the system. A brief Google search seems to populate Stripburek as the most popular search result. Just curious. Thanks!
