@TheMadTitan Given how she looked in her first appearance, they probably kept her off to make sure the book sold some copies |

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
@TheMadTitan Squirrel Girl is another key example for me. I wouldn't mind having it, but any time I see one I just can't get past the cover. The X-Men don't even look great.

Although Rogue first appeared in Avengers Annual #10, she got her powers in an issue of Ms. Marvel. More accurately, she got her powers in an unpublished Ms. Marvel comic because the series was cancelled before the story was published. Avengers Annual #10 took place as if the cancelled issues of Ms. Marvel had seen print. The story did eventually get printed in the Fall 1992 issue of Marvel Superheroes (Vol. 2 #11 I believe). It had a very disappointing cover also. Ghost Rider was on the cover. |

Have to go with the ultimate villian in the DC universe....Darkseid of course! And for this comic and the next, each a single panel appearance, until finally in Forever People 1 we get to meet Thanos, oops I mean Darth Vader, err well Darkseid himself. Darkseid would manage the triple crown even, failing to appear on the cover of any of the three books In that single late panel of the book the character does not even resemble the great villian that much....and with the price levels this book is getting now in decent shape, can be quite the ….fizzler |

I always thought this was an odd cover. 1st Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborne not on the cover. |

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. | drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Some of those covers, especially Ms Marvel 17 and ASM 31 look pretty cool to me. Who would know from the cover that this golden age mega key is both the first appearance of Aquaman and the Green Arrow? First of all, here is the cover I am talking about: Now, here is how each of the two heroes have been presented in comics: In other media: |

Yeah, the goal is a combination of important character and crummy cover.

Right, first appearance. The character could be on the cover, but I think that not even showing up contributes to the crumminess.

@xkonk Nothing springs to mind and today's too hectic to go searching. Stupid work. Actually - just thought of one. I'll change my entry. Or add a new one, since I can't edit the old one... |

The first appearance of the Crypt-Keeper, who would herald the reinvention of EC into the greatest horror comics studio in history, producing dozens of iconic comics collectors eagerly search out today. And, of course, the impetus that lent most of the momentum to the creation of the comics code, which forever changed the medium. The only comic character not from the Big Two (at least that I can think of) to ever get his own TV show. Yet he's not on the cover. Not even in the little cameo circle we all know so well. |
