@Jesse_O I think it might be a case of the order status not being changed to “Completed” because the serial numbers are returning as Invalid for any book on that invoice when you search for grader’s notes

@Bronte: QR code did not work either

@Comixited: The 2017 slab is already in the system and is found when you search both the Population Report or the Grader's Notes (17-3068549-063). The book I purchased is 20-3E12373-049, thus a 2020 book. The Population Report and/or the Grader's Notes may have COVID. Dunno.

@dielinfinite: I will send an email to Customer Service.

Thanks, everyone!!

@Jessie_O: That is what I was thinking. The Seller of 20-3E12373-050 on eBay is the same seller that I bought 20-3E12373-049 from. So I think it's just a lag or something in the process being incomplete.

@dielinfinite: That makes the most sense. A button has not been clicked (or somehting) for it to be viewed in the pop report or the grader's notes because it's maybe "still in process".

Like I said, never had this issue before... but I appreciate everyone's input and help to try and help solve the mystery. Thank you!

@NDS Grader’ Notes are supposed to become available once the order has shipped. It is not unheard of for books to be shipped without the order status being changed to Complete, which would then make the Grader’s notes go live. I don’t know enough to say how common an issue it is but I think it has happened once on one of my orders

@NDS you book is now in the system. It will show up in the graders notes now. The population report SHOULD update in the next day or two. If it doesn't, use the "report a problem" function on the population report page.

@Jesse_O: Thanks, Jesse! I was actually just going to post that I received a response from Customer Service. Darryl just confirmed the book in the system. All's well.

I appreciate everyone's help on this. Be well!

Soooo, while not an actual newb, I am a newb in submitting at a show. My buddy and I both submitted a few books each in NH recently. He has already received the email that his books arrived. I haven't. Seeing as both orders were from the same place and probably in the same big box, is it uncommon for them to be processed so far apart? Thanks

@Spidey62 from what I've seen, it depends on the tier that the books were submitted for. The faster tiers get received quicker. If your friend has a fast pass or a two day modern, it would get entered sooner than a regular modern. Or, if your books are going to be pressed and his aren't, his would get entered first. I have not confirmed this with CBCS, but it's what I have observed, and it makes sense. For a con submission, your tat starts the Wednesday after the con. If your friend didn't have anything different than you, you still could be days apart on being "received". From what I've heard, CBCS is about 2 weeks out on "receiving". Anything past that, I'd call or email them. If they got a ton of submissions at a con, it will take time to get them all received.

Curious. I haven't used a pressing service in the past. Is there a list of recommended places that will clean and press before sending to cbcs? Ive searched forum posts and wasn't able to locate much.

@Jsmead1 there is not such a list, although people have recommended certain pressers here and there in various threads. CBCS also does their own pressing if you want to just go through them.

@Jsmead1 I’ve asked CBCS in the past for a list of authorized pressers (pressers that can crack a signed book and submit it to CBCS) and though they’ve told me they did have one, they were unable to produce it but I was able to confirm @CFP_Comics is on that list.

As @xkonk mentioned have mentioned their favorite pressers here and there and there are certain names that tend to come up repeatedly.

I'm submitting a complicated batch with all kinds of service including screening, pressing and reholdering. How do I find the Re-holder option? I can't find it on the drop down box for pricing options. Also, can you combine pressing/press-screen and reholder? I assume not, once it gets pressed it has to go through the whole grading expense again?

@EbayMafia - it is the "Reholder" button on the left hand side of the page and just to the right of the "Add Comic" button. For adding Reholder, DO NOT hit the "Add Comic" button just hit the "Reholder" button and it will take you to a new screen to type in the CBCS Cert number of the comic you are doing the reholder for.

Yes, you can add Reholders with press and regular submissions, but I would submit separately unless you only have very few Reholders and want to save on the average shipping costs per book.

COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
@EbayMafia You can combine books for pressing and books for reholdering on the same order. You cannot combine a reholder and pressing on the same book. Reholdering is strictly putting the same book in a new holder with the assumption that it is in the same condition and thus the same grade, hence the cheaper price and the restriction that the book has to be in an intact CBCS holder. Pressing affects the book’s condition so it would need to be re-graded.

@dielinfinite - I read @EbayMafia press/press screen reholder question different than you did. I guess the interpretation is subjective like grading. But in re-reading, I see that I mis-read that part of the questions.

Thanks guys. I can see why re-holdering would be out of the question once a book has been pressed or even just screened for pressing.

I'm certainly no Newbie, but just ran into a 1st for me.
I'm attempting to Submit some books. One of them is "Norse Mythology" from Dark Horse.
I try to enter the book and I get "Title does not exist". Never had that happen and I'm not so good at searching the Forum for how to get around that so any insight would be appreciated as I'm sure I'm not the 1st.

@Nuffsaid111 - Click your heels together three times, close your eyes and say "There no comic certification like CBCS"

Actually, once you hit enter and get the error, you click the red error message and can either retype to see if your comic comes up and if not, just click the add button as normal that 2nd time to override.

As @Scifinator said, clicking the error that pops up should allow you to enter the comic title regardless of whether it is in the system or not

More questions I *should* know the answer to...
1) Marvel Super Specials can only be raw grade right now correct?

2) is there a size limit to pressing or raw grade? I got a neat international copy of Captain N the Game Master that is over sized (I need to measure it when I'm home next but I *think* it's slightly larger than magazine size)

The maximum size for slabbing is 7.625" x 10.5" and .24" thick. The Marvel Super specials I believe are magazine size so they would have to be raw graded.

I believe the Maximum size for raw grading are treasury sized books which are about 10”x13”.

I’m not sure what equipment CBCS uses but most pressers are using machines designed for pressing clothes so I’d imagine the vast majority of comics would fir

Instead of starting a thread on this, I'm just going to ask it here. I put press screen on my latest order and I haven't been charged yet. I know pressing is a bit behind so am I being paranoid or do I just need to be patient a little while longer?

You just need to wait. When you add a screen the final costs are not calculated until the screen is completed. I am unsure if the screen is completed while the books are in line for pressing or if the screen happens when the order’s turn for pressing comes up
