Once corrected, will CBCS send the back to me separately from that order? Or, shipped back with that order?

Only if you put them on a separate order and want to pay extra shipping (as far as I know). Otherwise they'll come back with the rest of your books.

Mistake in slabbing and quality control. If you look around enough you see examples of the wrong label being put with the wrong book, typos, etc. Here they have the wrong color paper.

True. Makes it hard for those of us who stick up for CBCS when other collectors and comic shop roll-their-eyes in conversations of grading and CGC as the standard.

But lately I'm seeing more and more QA issues with CBCS.
On my last submission, I got a Clone Wars #1 graded at 9.8. Great right?
Except the label doesn't list a single bit of amplifying information. That's right. No mention of the 1st appearance of Ahsoka Tano. I looked up other CBCS graded CW1 slabs, and they did mention the 1st appearance. Are there no standards set for those who process the graded comic and QA the final product?
Like these latest mistakes, it was recommended that I send it back in for correction.
No thanks. Not gonna risk a 9.8 CW1 going through the USPS and reslabbing processing again.

A full week gone by, and nothing from CBCS about this.

Will I be able to see the picture and grade of the 2 Day Modern book while waiting for the other books to be graded?

If they are all on the same order, no. Grader's notes are released once the order has shipped from the CBCS facility.

This seems as good a place to post this as any.
Is there any chance the Gallery can be tweaked a bit so entries can be organized? It's kinda irritating loading a title run and seeing #1,#300, #2, #3, #72, #5, gap, gap, gap, #4, #12, #6...

Bummer- This has been covered somewhere already (wouldn't be surprised if I already asked)?
Looks like Ed's (X-Men run) idea of a thread is the way to go.

I have a question about press screening. If it is determined that a book does need a pressing, does the cost of the screening get applied to the pressing cost? Or is the screening price always in addition to pressing? I thought I read somewhere that the screening cost gets applied to the pressing fee but I can't find that info anywhere now.

Thanks!

@Silverado screening is its own fee. If a comic gets pressed, the pressing fee is on top.

RE: CBCS CANADA.

I have been trying to connect with someone at CBCS for over a month now. As a first-time submitter I want to make sure I am doing things correctly.

I think, through forums and other searches, I answered some of my questions. As things stand now, my friends and I created an order for pressing and another order without pressing. We put each order in its own box with its own invoice. We then put both those boxes into a larger box for submission to the CBCS Canada office. They are basically ready to ship... I think.

One question remains: I assume that because the books go to CBCS Canada that we don't need to worry about customs forms. Is that correct?

Thanks.

@Silverado correct! that is one of the bid benefits of going the CBCS Canada route - the books will ship to and return from the US and we don't have to deal with telling customs that they are our own books and don't need any duty or have to deal with FedEx trying to get brokerage fees out of us!! Only downside is it adds a couple extra weeks to our turn around time - something I am willing to trade off for avoiding the other hassles!!

I just sent a box on Thursday - should be there by Tuesday at the latest.

@KatKomics Have the issues with CBCS Canada finally been worked out? Last I’d heard was that delayed orders were slowly being shipped out but the office itself was still closed

Also, just to be clear, Pressing and Non-Pressing books can now go on the same invoice but the whole order will revert to the turn-around time for the pressing books, which right now is like 3 months

wellllll....we'll see I guess....sounds like the Canadian office is open again - not sure how, but apparently they are setup to receive/return new orders - maybe related to the change in locations (must be sharing docking/warehouse space and maybe the other guys are able to facilitate receipt/return of orders??)

Wish I could find the thread...I swear someone had an e-mail response saying they were open again.

I got a question!??!? The subject matter of comics has no boundaries and I read this comic my friend let me borrow called CROSSED, and my question is. What kind of person thinks of stuff like that, or be the one to draw it and what kind of publisher would, in any good conscious release it to the public?
LIKE WOW. I read all 11 issues he gave me to read issue 0-10. Then this used comic I got today HOT DAMN issue #1-2 was like filth. I need to scan them first I guess. But like what kind of monsters create porn comics, sadistic evil Comics where I can't can't even describe the content on here because it's so far left. Crazy.

Something that might have been addressed in another thread but should probably be here too... can you send books to get pressed but not graded? If not can you work around it by adding a grade screen for something higher than the quality of the book?
Post 76 IP   flag post
COLLECTOR dielinfinite private msg quote post Address this user
No you cannot submit books for pressing but not grading. You certainly can try to get around it by screening the books but you will be charged a reject fee if too many books on your order fail to pass the screen

@dielinfinite that's what I thought; thanks for the confirmation. It's a shame because I have some books that I'd like to look good for sentimental reasons, but don't quite want to sink full grading money into them. Maybe I'll suck it up and raw grade them.

Hope its ok to ask in this question. I'm trying to explain to a family member the point of grading and slabbing comics and I recall there was a super helpful video that CBCS had on their website that was a step by step process of what happens when CBCS gets a comic, does anyone have a link to that or know where it can be found?

I’m afraid I am not familiar with the video you’re referring to. I don’t think any of the videos on their Youtube channel really match that description
