Is that a wicked case of spine roll, or are a lot of GA books stapled like that? I've passed on some auctions due to similar stapling because I assumed they were re-stapled by a kid.

....yes I have been that kid.

Not a spine roll, just a miscut cover. I like it!

Does the slight rotation of the art in relation to the cut of the cover affect the grade? Or is that just my untrained eye? Beautiful book, that's for sure!

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
@figment I think it may otherwise keep a comic from a 10.0 or 9.9, but would not preclude a 9.8. But, I am not the expert, so that is my supposition as I have seen slightly worse miss-wraps that were graded 9.8.

That slight miscut does not affect the grade except it would not get a 9.9 or 10

Hyper's face looks a little like Alex Raymond art, but the rest of him, not so much. Very cool book!

@beastboy1980 That book is amazing, and I've also run into a number of G.A./S.A. books with names written in PEN (never removable pencil...) on the covers.

@sborock Have you ever seen or graded the elusive #3? I would love to find one of those someday.

@OGJackster I don't remember grading one in, at least, the last 10 years so I am not 100% sure. It's a B&W that had strange distrobution....

Very common.
My mother told me she wrote her name on all her comics, so that when she took them to school no one could steal her book because of her name. I am still, after all these years, looking for a book with her name. That would be so cool to find!

I have a copy of Superman 30 that has the name Kenneth Bergquist written in pencil across the top. Google turns up a few potential candidates (likely related), all senior military (assistant secretary of defense, major general etc).

I like that it is left on even if it did drop the grade a bit :-)

If anyone had a chance of coming across one, I am sure it would be you. You must have seen heaps of books over the years.
