did the owner of the book know the signature was there, being in the centerfold it could easily be missed. Do you know roughly how many Ditko signatures CBCS has verified

I am not sure if the submitter knew or not. I am also not sure how many we have done, but I do know we have done a bunch. Also we have seen a lot of fakes.

I'm not wild about the cut on that.
I've never owned a copy, so I'm not sure what is considered a good cut. Stress marks on the staples stand out more because the book is so flat and clean otherwise.

May I pry and ask what setup is used to photograph the books?

Concur. The wrap being off-kilter keeps drawing my eye.

Not that I wouldn't gladly take the book, of course.

Just my cell phone at my grading desk. I don't have time to run around to send them to imaging for better pics.

Many comics from this time period and earlier have slight miswraps or miscuts. I have seen many golden age comics that make this look perfect. LOL!

To be honest, slight misalignment does not bother me and many hobbyists that I know when it comes to vintage books.

No doubt, and I agree. Miswraps are just one of my comic pet peeves, particularly on a black cover like that. As I indicated, I can overlook it.

One of my MOST favorite covers of all time and my personal β€œgrail”. The women in the picture is so beautifully rendered, while Swamp Thing appears so supply in the background. It is a work of art. Thanks again for the share Steve!

one of my copies obviously color faded, but I really think the toning down of the colors worked to make it look more macabre. I like it. I need to get it sent in for signature verification
