I never understood the Wall Of Text problem. If a thread page has 20 posts averaging 20 words, and the next page has 10 posts averaging 40 words...
I think the real problem is the 'not wanting to read someone's post'. That's when 'moving on' works best. Demanding (complaing) that someone reduces the word count is wrong. If I see more words than I care to read, or if they're words I've read before, I use my ignore function (will power), and don't read them, and I don't tell anyone to stop posting so many words. At least I don't think I do.

I’m sure the atmosphere of the CGC forum has steered many potential customers (especially those new to grading) toward CBCS.

Hate the wall of text

Use paragraphs!

Even worse are the pyramids.

You can respond to someone's most recent post without reposting the last 30 responses in the conversation.

Whenever putting anything in writing it is never a bad idea to consider the perspective of your readers and to spare them from these problems.

INTJ's are fact hungry.

Well, you see, that's why I don't think he's a pure INTJ. He very much cares about being right.

In the Detective Comics discussion here, I said I thought CGC got it wrong and the comic wasn't restored. I then said I would LOVE to buy that comic for $1000, and send it back in for proper grading, get the windfall for going back to a blue label.

Look at that, he said, Tedsaid wants to slip it past the graders, cheat the system on a comic he knows is restored. "That's crossing the line." Hilariously, when I challenged him on it, he admitted I didn't actually SAY I wanted to cheat the system, but I "walked right up to the line."

What line? What does that even mean? Either I said I wanted to cheat the system or I didn't. There is no "line" there. You can't be a little bit pregnant.

Anyway, that's just one of many examples where he will tie himself into knots to keep from backing down. But I get what you are saying. A lot of the INTJ does fit.

By the way, he is hopping mad right now that we are talking about him and he can't participate.

The mods are right and I do have empathy about that. I've been dealing with flat out lies about me that were spread 15 years ago on a board that I chose to leave. I even dealt with online stalkers at one point. I was actually trying to defend him even though I don't get fuzzy warm joy reading his posts.

I only say this because I am an authorized cgc dealer with many submissions and I never/rarely visit the cgc forums over there. It's too overwhelming, too many subforums, and too unorganized. Less is more. This forum is easier on the eyes and not difficult to search or find topics. My only complaint is there is no block feature or more privacy controls.

Not to break up the comic talk too much, but personality types aren't really a thing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personality_type#Types_vs._traits).

It's a predisposition based on a person's response to the test. The instructions on how to deal with an INTJ are pretty much the equivalent of an owners manual for me. It nails my personality and it nails my girlfriend's personality. She's an INTJ also. Whatever you believe is fine. Ignore those instructions and you'll likely get treated exactly as those summaries say I will react. The only reason I'd respond differently is if I wanted to mess with you.

Lay it on me!

I almost feel like I shouldn't. But okay, here it is ...

Dark humor is like food: not everyone gets it.

I just wander off like a stray cat. I don't mind a wall of text if it's thought provoking and informative.
Controversy and news generate the most responses on a messageboard. If you find yourself always in a flame war with people constantly, post some news that people care about.

I agree about paragraphs, but didn't realize a lack of them is what qualifies a post as being a WOT. I've seen perfectly structured posts accused of being a WOT.

Also agree about pyramids, and just did my part to show how they can easily be avoided.

I would also think using well structured words, of ANY length, is more of a compliment to the reader[s] as opposed to assuming they have a low attention span.

I wasn't meaning to suggest you, or any other particular person, might not be described an an INTJ. It's more that if you took a trait test like the Big Five instead of a type test like Myers-Briggs, you would (probably) be described just as well, and lots of other people would be described more accurately. Just trying to quickly inject some psych knowledge into the group.

That's fine. There is a structure to the test so that it narrows down a person's tendencies. Some people score in the middle and their letters may change depending on how they interpret the questions.

Sorry to drift off top.

I got into a BIG argument with my mom recently.
She said we never argue about anything.
I said "Yes we do."
That started it.

Well, the way I was using the phrase it was more about a whole page or two replying to, say, five or six distinct points. And the denizens prefer it if each subject had it's own thread. And so these threads would emerge from the first post because someone would reply to each thought within the copy of the post, broken into five or six distinct pieces. And then the next person who would respond would just pick whichever one her or she wanted to respond to. And the next person, if they were responding to a different thread, then that post would branch off the first one.

And so on, until every subject was exhausted.

Anyway, it was hard to keep the threads straight if you had to read all of them before moving on to any of the responses.

I hope for their sake they don't apply those mad research skills to all aspects of the hobby.
I've often wondered what the ratio of non-forum-participating customers are to those who do post.

Here too. The forums must make up a tiny portion of their clientele.

Probably more so when the person posting "tl;dr" later says the other never answered or explained this or that, when in fact they did- they just dr it. 'Cause it was tl.

ONly vaguely related. myslabbedcomics.com posted this on their facebook

"Amazing Spider-Man #300 is QUICKLY nearing the 20,000th CGC graded milestone!

To celebrate, CGC will be grading the 20,000th copy for FREE! To top that, this landmark book will sport a one-of-a-kind label with the notation “20,000TH CERTIFIED COPY” "

20,000 graded copies just over der.

Gimmick money grab for the seller!!! Whoever that person is will try to monopolize on that even though it has NOTHING to do with the actual comic.
