I've never posted over there but i've read what seems like the simplest of honest questions being piled on like rabid dogs on a bone. It's crazy that you can't even ask a question without being maligned.

I started checking out their forum again two weeks ago. To find they reset my posts back to zero. Even though I have the same user name and password. Even old posts from five years ago I posted are still there.
But I generally post in the silver age forum there. And I do enjoy the forums here personally. 😀

I remember starting out on the cgc forums. Everyone was a flat out a**hole. You try (and want) to learn and you just get ripped on for asking honest questions. That's why I left years ago....well that and all the crap that cgc pulls. It was such a lousy experience that I had all my cgc slabs regraded to CBCS. Yeah, I took a few hits on grades but I'm much more proud to have the CBCS brand on my books. CBCS to me is much more than just the core company but this forum as well. I have learned an incredible amount in the last 2-3 here. It's been a safe place to ask questions (no matter how many times they have been asked before) to buy books and even joke about writers, directors etc. I've said it many times, but again Thank you to all the members that make this hobby fun and take the time to answer questions and share their years of experience and knowledge.

Yeah this forum rocks. I have asked all kinds of stupid questions and I don't recall ever getting ripped on. All my questions get answered too. I had an account at cgc but never really posted anything. Came here and started posting right away. The environment is so much more inviting here.

When CGC forum member @Buzzetta started the thread “Detective Comics 359 CBCS 9.2 - Trying to figure out the timeline”, he stated:

Nonetheless, he wasn’t at all.

This speaks to the difference between the CBCS and CGC forum environment.

Honestly I love comics and love seeing other people who love comics posting pics of their books. And I'm not set in stone when it comes to grading companies.
Most of my books are cgc. I have about a dozen cbcs and I have one of each of the two other grading companies

Besides CBCS and CGC, I know one of the grading companies is Pee Gee Echhs, but what’s the other one?

@CaptainCanuck yeah mate. Noticed that when I posted the pics. Still don't matter if I have thousands of posts or just 19. Low posts should not be assumed a novice comic book collector. I'm sure there are collectors with mind boggling high grade collections of rare books who have never posted on a comic book forum ever.
Anyway I love the laid back atmosphere here.
And it was only achieved by the laid back collectors who post here.

Sometimes the trick is to avoid Comics General and the Water Cooler. The Gold, Silver, Bronze threads are usually okay and calm. In comparison, anyway.

I think what they claim "upsets" them is when a person asks a common question when sometimes the answer requires some simple reading of a few threads discussing the topic. Of course sometimes the answer is needed sooner rather than later. I'm not saying that's the situation with anyone here.

Everyone asks questions they can find answers to for themselves, but it's "punishable" when you're new.

Good when I was back in Australia over 5 years ago. When they started up I was one of their head graders. But no one here, don't ask me to grade anything. Cbcs are on the ball with their grading. Everything I've sent in has been spot on to grade. They even found the restor on my JLA 1
Myself it was a 1.8 restored they said 2.0. a .2 ain't nothing

Try the gold forums.A lot of great posters and knowledge there.
If you find the other areas abrasive, you might find it a little more relaxed there, and there are some very enthusiastic folks that are more than happy to share their ken.
A lot of great rare gorgeous books to look at doesn't hurt.

When they blocked dealers login from the forum necessitating a second account I could never figure out how to get my old ID and posts back.

That is when I moved to this forum.

I liked some of the users there and sold some books but I am happier here.

Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user
Similar with me. I had used CGC in past for a few of my most prized Comics and my magazine size. Perused their boards but never really posted as it seemed a bit snippy to say the least. But when to came to the decision to have the majority of my collection preserved and graded, i did a-lot of research last year and did two test submissions to CBCS this year with about 3doz comics. Grades spot on and TAT as stated or better at times of submission. And, these forum boards i enjoy and learn. I just hop my latest submissions don’t spike the TAT.
