Yes, I am also. Look forward to talking more about this after my morning coffee. I'm sure there will be more comments to read.

Just checked my post history... never said that... the last exchange we had was me posting a Bill Hader popcorn gif and you said something about me trying to offload jewelry here. I never responded...

Maybe you are confusing me with someone else...

The Graders notes:

Detective Comics #359

DC1 1967

Variant:
Pedigree:

9.2

Certified
Off-White/White

Signees:

Notes:
small distro ink sop through top edge
spine stress barely breaks color
arrival date top back cover in grease pen

cgc most likely viewed the distro ink sop for color touch

Color touch doesnt go thru entire top edge, just the cover. I dont see that mistake being possible. I believe CT is in other areas like under her L foot and over the 2nd E in detective and around purse.

Anyway - back to Buzz’s original question. How comfortable are we that it is the same comic. For and against with suggested arguments?

I'm 100.1% comfortable it's the same comic.

You can plainly see that’s not the same book. Delete this post moderators.

@Kav not yet convinced but let’s say it the same book then with ref to Buzz’s original questions - seems no answers here - at least up to now - just guesses / more questions

I'd think that anyone who lost that much money would have screamed bloody murder by now. Since this hasn't come up until you found it, I have to wonder why the last seller is silent.

I'm not convinced either. They could have come from the same source and one have been adjacent in a batch. The mark at the top could have been because they were done by the same person in the same spot.

If it is the same book some additional things seemed to have happened to it between being purchased and getting re-graded at CGC.

What really gets me is the area by Batgirl's right leg and case. Here is a blow up of that area. This first one is from the CBCS slab.

This one is from the CGC slab.

I suppose that it's possible it could be Newton rings, but without having the books in hand, it's hard to say. Plus, once again, where is the person who supposedly paid $10,000 and sold it for $900?? I'm not one to publicly blast companies, but if that happened to me, you can bet I'd have an issue and be VERY public about it!!!

If this is the same comic, it was cut AFTER CBCS graded it. Look at the pic here, is shows the cover in the CBCS slab covers more of the interior pages than it does in the CGC slab. Mystery Solved.

@GanaSoth could have happend during a press

Collector GanaSoth private msg quote post Address this user
@poka but the size of the comics spine is exact same size (just darker color), so I don't believe it rolled any during a press.

If the top edge was trimmed after the book was cracked out of the CBCS slab, the checkerboard pattern along the top edge would be even shorter along the top edge of the CGC book, but it’s not. The checkerboard pattern is the exact same in both pictures.

Also, look at the ¢ (cent) symbol on the right edge. If the right edge was trimmed after it was cracked out if the CBCS slab, more of the ¢ symbol would be missing.

@CaptainCanuck maybe they started at the right top edge of the comic and went down. That's how the cut looks. They didn't cut any from the top but at an slight South-West angle.

@GanaSoth

The CGC label states “Top and Right Edge Trimmed”.

Collector GanaSoth private msg quote post Address this user
@CaptainCanuck how else can they describe it? They can't say "Trim started just under the top right edge then slowly went at an angle downwards toward the spine side of the comic." Haha

To me it looks like the trim was after the CBCS case, and it started right below the top right corner, so the size wasn't compromised and less easy to detect.

@GanaSoth

When CGC states “TOP & RIGHT EDGE TRIMMED” on the label, it means they have determined that both the top edge and the right edge have been trimmed.

@CaptainCanuck if thats the way you perceive/interpret their text.

Alls I'm saying is the comic was "modified" after the CBCS graded case.
