Speculating on this week's new releases9670

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Haven't gone through the list yet but with TMNT 96 and the second priming of WD 193 this should be a good week to make a trip to the comic store on Wednesday.

This thread is to discuss and possibly prioritize this week's offerings.

@comicsforme they're supposed to be intertwined stories where you read both. Powers of X will have some kind of new character though; one of the variants is a 'new character cover'.

Could anyone tell me when this story takes place? It seems out of continuity with the rest of the Marvel Universe. I have been reading quite a few of the X-Men and related titles for the past few years but this new story seems to be in its own universe.

The new powers of x and house of x storyline is a reset and relaunch, or perhaps even redefinition of the entire mutants storyline, past present and future apparently ….the writer was given quite a bit of latitude to end titles, and start new ones from what I read

I have some comments after going through Midtown's website:

Dark Horse

Manor Black # 1 B cover by Tyler Crook is not available to order online (They do not always have all of the covers of books unless it is Marvel or DC so this does not necessarily mean that this book is anything special. Then again it could be.)

DC

Batman Secret Files Vol 2 #2

These are available online without any limit but I like the cover on this one.

Batman Who Laughs #7 Cover B Variant David Finch Cover has a limit of one per customer

IDW

Both covers for Canto 2 are not available to order online(They do not always have all of the covers of books unless it is Marvel or DC so this does not necessarily mean that this book is anything special. The first issue of Canto 1 is going for good money on ebay.)

Cover A - Would have been limited to one per customer if they has any

Cover B - Also would have been limited to one per customer

Gears POP One Shot Cover B Incentive Nico Pena Variant Cover by Nico Pensa is not available to order online (They do not always have all of the covers of books unless it is Marvel or DC so this does not necessarily mean that this book is anything special. Then again it could be.)

They did not have the cover art for this one.

TMNT 96 has two regular priced covers (A - David Watcher & B - Kevin Eastman) and a third incentive cover by Sophie Campbell listed at $40.00

Midtown only has the cover art for cover A.

Image

Spawn # 299 has all three covers available for order with no limit

Walking Dead # 193 Second Print has a different color logo but otherwise looks like the first print. They are available online without limit.

The first printing is still available online for $10 with a limit of one (limit in store was three last week).

I will continue this write up in the next post.

Marvel

Conan The Barbarian Vol 4 #8 Cover B Variant Bill Sienkiewicz Carnage-Ized Cover is not available to order online. This one I like.

Deaths Head Vol 2 #1 Cover B Variant John McCrea Connecting Cover is not available to order online. Not sure if this one is anything special.

Fantastic Four Vol 6 #12 Cover A Regular Esad Ribic Cover is available online without limit. Hulk vs Thing cover. Immortal Hulk has been red hot.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Vol 2 #9 Cover B Variant Woo Dae Shim is not available to order online. I think I will be picking this one up.

Marvel Comics Presents Vol 3 #7 Cover B Incentive Rahzzah Variant Cover is not available on to order online. The price was listed at $42.50.

All thirteen covers of Power of X 1 are available online without limit but some of them are expensive.

Secret Warps Iron Hammer Annual #1 Cover A Regular Carlos Gomez Cover is not available on to order online but the other cover is. Not sure about this one.

Scout Comics

Gutt Ghost Till We Meet Again #1 Midtown put a limit of one on this book and does not have it available for sale online.

I will skip the independent comics because the shortages at Midtown often mean that they did not order the book and no one wants it even though there may be some winners.

Why limit yourself to just Midtown's website? There are so many online retailers who are offering these "not available online" issues.

If Midtown limits a book to one copy or is out of stock on a title from a major publisher chances are that the book is worth buying. If nothing else it furthers the discussion.

My review of Midtown's offerings was a contribution I chose to make towards this topic I started the other day.

If anyone wants to go through other retailer sites and wants to share anything here it would be welcome.

Midtown limit 1 per Customer does not mean that it is a popular book. For some reason they have started to do that for some titles - especially b covers. Only if they start with no limit and then implement a limit. Having said that - like your inputs

It is all guesswork in the end but it is hard to connect the dots if we can not see them first.

You said they are selling the TMNT 96 Campbell 1:10 variant for $40.00. I subscribe from Atomic Empire, and they allow bidding on incentive covers. The highest bid that will sell all the available copies wins. For this issue, I won a copy at $6.99. (Bids have to be in about a month before they are released, which keeps the bidding down.)

My subscription at Atomic Empire was also shorted. It was just one copy, since I placed an order with The Comic Mint for a bunch of copies. Not sure yet if TCM will be shorted also.

I forgot, I also bought one three weeks ago from The Comic Mint for $18, FYI. So, one more data point for you.

I did not like the sequential art in Powers. Nor was I a huge fan of the skipping through time format.

Looks like Jennika is going to be armed with a flashlight.

Hit far too many stores over the last three days.

Toughest book to get was TMNT 96.

Many stores got shorted.

I ended up with two 1:10 incentives, two B covers and five or six A covers.

How is it looking so far, in terms of which one is more important: #95 or #96? What are your thoughts?

Unless something awesome happened in 96 I would say 95 is the better book to have.

Next week is the second print for 95 which may end up being more valuable or less valuable than the 96 first print. There is really no way to know yet.

I was in my LCS today so I flipped through the Wolverine story in Marvel Comics Presents 7. Could always be a ploy, but the new character specifically says a couple of times that she isn't Wolverine's daughter.
