A friend of mine had a short box full of extremely high grade Hulk #181's just before CGC started their business. He sold them all one by one before the prices spiked through the roof. He's probably kicking himself now. As a general rule, I keep all major keys. They only go up in value. I actually have two X-Men #1's and Three Strange Tales #110's.

I saw the JIM #83 in extremely low grade at an absurdly low price. I forgot the Golden Records reprint existed. I thought it was just a really low grade original that I needed, so I bought it. I got it home and realized my mistake. I was so ashamed that you'll never see a scan of it.

The guy opens it up and shows him that cover art reprinted inside. He had a very enlightened look on his face. Marvel had not told him they'd reprinted that artwork.

Since MOAR appears merrier in this thread and a single wallet crunching book canโ€™t seem to satiate this lustful crowd, here are two other four-color beauties that consumed both passion and dwindling resources...

I have already posted most of these on other threads here and there, but I will re-present them here since my grails are a little different than most of yours. This is the comic I paid the most for:

It is the first comic book devoted to Richie Rich.

Here is Richie #1:

Other grails include Hot Stuff #1, a very difficult comic to find in fine or better condition:

Casper the friendly ghost #1, Davis Crippen โ€œDโ€ copy pedigree:

Casper #8 is the first appearance of Spooky:

The first Mickey Mouse comic book. Nearly impossible to find in any condition:

And the first appearance of Scooby-Doo, by far the most difficult Bronze Age Key to find in fine or better, IMO:

Here are probably my top 3 โ€œrealโ€ comics (at least until I can obtain a copy of X-Men #1 - so if any of you can spare one, please let me know).

@CatmanAmerica Absolutely amazing books. Most of us only dream of owning a 40+k book. Congratulations on your collection. You're one of those "heavy hitters" I referred to earlier in this thread. Makes some of our stuff look like fire kindling lol!

Ms. Marvel Issue 1 Vol 1. It's in CBCS's hands. (Feels like I'm missing a body part...)

Swamp Thing Issue 1 Vol 1. I need to have it pressed, graded, and sealed. I holding off on sending anything more in for now. Funny... I bought it in the 70s from a kid in a DC Comic Convention. It was in awesome shape. Heck. At that stage it wasn't that old. He wanted $9. I gave him $6. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed that the dumbass has written '#1 $9' on paper or something...directly on the comic... So the pressure of the pen indented his scribbles on the cover......
