| You see it a lot on older war books. All HOS 92s are grey tone covers, but it's a stretch, in my opinion, calling it a grey tone cover. | ||

I love grey tone covers. I believe it’s also sometimes called a wash drawing technique. It’s my understanding that the drawing is heavily shaded before the color is added. Here’s one of my favorites. |

One of my favorites. The definition from Overstreet states: Grey-Tone Cover - "A cover art style in which pencil or charcoal underlies the normal line drawing, used to enhance the effects of light and shadows, thus producing a richer quality. These covers, prized by collectors, are sometimes referred to as Painted Covers but are not actually painted." I always thought they were more of a diffused looking cover.   |
