CBCS Turnaround 8/8/16946

@pjray55 you are paying for them to be graded faster than the regular service not for them to be done in an exact number of days. As well, they were likely falling behind the week before they were due. My fast pass order took 29 days total.

They got no problems grading on the spot in a timely manner at conventions before catching up on current orders though.

@oxbladder, yes of course I am paying for them to be graded faster. I am not simply sending them an extra $x per book because I have money to burn.

Again where I have the problem is that Steve comes on and updates the TAT's weekly and those posts are not indicative of the true TAT's.

I paid extra for a service because I needed those books in that timeframe and based on posts throughout the process I was mislead to believe that timeframe would in fact be met when in reality it took nearly twice as long.

@oxbladder I would love to hear how you would react if you had paid for overnight delivery of a FedEx package and when it didn't show up for a week you were told by FedEx customer service that you didn't pay for overnight you just paid for it to get there faster.

For those that say big deal you had to wait a few extra weeks to see your grades or get your books those two weeks for a seller could mean a very big delta in prices realized in this crazy market.

@pjray55 Pulled from CBCS page. I really don't know if you are that new to grading, but every company goes through the same thing during the convention season. IF your books are THAT time sensitive. THIS is a NO Brainer. If I am worried that much about getting my books back as fast as possible, I am choosing this option.

2-Day Modern
1975 to present

members:$36/book

non-members:$40/book

2 business days

Valued up to $2000

I could be wrong, but I do not think that the on site grading had any slow down to the grading done at the shop. They were going to be at the convention anyway. They just added a different feature to their booth.

@pjray55 the entire time my order was in the chain the service was said to be "on time". I pointed out in one of these threads a few threads back that my order was running late. As I stated you are paying to get your books back in half the time or even less than regular stream since there is no GUARANTEE WHATSOEVER to the advertised TAT then there is no guarantee to the fast pass time. Twice I have done fast pass both times they were supposedly on time. Both times they skirted or exceeded the APPROXIMATELY 15 days. Both times they came back well before the halfway point of the regular service.

You pay to jump the queue and you get exactly that. They are not going to be posting everyday just where they are on TATs so you are going to have to understand that that report that comes every week or two is going to be reporting OLD news.

Oh and I have paid for overnight service and not gotten overnight service. I was upset but what can you do? Especially in this case where you are NOT paying for a set number of days? In my last submission I not only did I pay more for for fast pass but I had to swallow an extra $80+ because I could not ship Fedex ground. However, despite paying more for shipping it looks to me like CBCS absorbed a loss on return shipping because I got basically an overnight return. Whether that was from me kindly pointing out the service was not on time or because they were bound by the same fedex shipping barrier as me I don't know. In the end I spent $730+ ($489 US) Canadian and got exactly the service I was expecting and more if you count the return shipping. Fedex charged me another $56 for taxes that should not have been charged but honestly it would have cost me more money to try and explain the books originated here so I paid it.

Problems in life suck but they happen and you have to learn to roll with them or they will destroy you.

@Evangelon I know. It used to be much shorter. But the fact of the matter is that Nov-Jan are still pretty slow, and the MAJOR conventions are still spring/summer. Of course Javits is still Oct.

How long after the books move to shipping do the grades post? And when are the images available?

I was to say it was like 2 or 3 days after they moved to shipping that the grades posted.

Stuff will post once the books are actually in the mail. So, once you get the shipping email, you can find that info shortly after.

I have like 40 books that had been selected in their original gallery before the migration. Since then I have had 100+ books graded which some of those would have been likely selected, and currently 90 in for grading which I would assume some of those would have been in the gallery.
I wonder if the original comics will be in the "new" gallery when it comes out and if they are selecting comics since the migration started that will be added to gallery.
I mean I have amazing golden age #1's and dell books in super high grade that I would love for people to be able to see in the gallery, but alas no gallery.

Just to give you an idea of what to expect: I mailed books to them May 12th and May 18th. According to CBCS they were received June 1st and June 9th. So your 2 day modern is 2 days after CBCS says they received them, not when they actually arrived. Keep in mind the excuse that its also convention season, lol, which runs from March until December, so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday don't factor as business days. I'm guessing that they're gonna say they were received August 29th and probably be shipped back to you the first or second week of September. Just a guess of course.

I have books in the 2-day modern tier that went into received status on 7/18 and they still haven't moved to grading. My guess would be a lot longer than a sept turnaround for books submitted in aug.

Just submit your books and try to forget about them. You'll get them back at some point. If you try to anticipate there grading, qc, or shipping you will drive yourself crazy.
I have had books there for almost 2 (6/21/16) months and they are still in recieved status.
It's difficult I know, even I try to not check but once a week in the hopes I will see a status change if orders, but alas I just disappoint mysrlf. If you try to figure out when you will get your books back, your time would be better spent trying to figure out your place in the universe or solving the cure for cancer.
This is not a knock on their service or even cgc's service. This is just a comment to let you know you are not alone. It's the nature if the beast in our collecting. We all just have to hurry up and wait. I am sure people who submit anything for grading...i.e. baseball carss, coins have the same anxieties.
The good part is that if you think about it long enough and stress out daily you won't eat or sleep much and you'll lose weight.

My only gripe is that my books in the 2-day tier were coupons from the membership I paid for. Since this tier costs more I'd rather just have coupons for regular tier submissions so I could submit more books if they're all going to take months to turn around. Not sure what "2-day" part even means at this point.

@brianscotch did you have other book besides the 2-days and did you ask that they all return at the same time? If so, they will only proceed as fast as the slowest tier. I had a couple fo 2-days on my order but two other tiers as well on fast pass so they all took about three and a bit weeks to go through.

This is very true. I am a new customer too, so currently trying to calibrate my expectations. The important part is to keep feeding the pipeline, however you can, so that once books start rolling in, they will keep coming. If you mail in some comics right now, you will likely get them in mid-November.

For me the real pain is, I have books ready to go, but I have to wait for the new label. I don't have any idea where they are in that process, burning through their supply of the 'bad' label. So I can't feed the pipeline.

What's even worse are the ones I want to send to CFPcomics first, for pressing and cleaning. That adds another two months at least. But you can't send to CFPcomics (as I understand it) without first getting the CBCS invoice done. Which I can't do while waiting for the label fix.

So my next batch of books, I won't see again until mid-January. IF I submit now...

I've used this tier once and everything went smoothly. The books hit grading same day they were received and and hit shipping the next day. My only problem was they forgot to apply my ecoupons, which Customer Service promptly fixed.
