Here is the start to my comic wall. J-Channel for vinyl siding. Cheap but effective. 4 foot slabs so I can rotate the display. No sunlight hits either wall.![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very nice but aren't you afraid that the light will fade them?

Thanks guys! My thought on the fading is this collection isn’t my entire collection and I will be rotating them. Also this is the basement corner and lights won’t be on all the time. Finally, I am going to swap out the light bulbs. I tried mimicking what I have seen on YouTube for channels out there. |

Just right. I’ve had some slabs and non slabbed books in frames hanging up for almost 10 years, in a couple different rooms. Probably around 100 books total, mostly gold and silver, a few moderns. I do rotate a bit when a different cover seems cooler but about half have been up the entire time. I keep the shades drawn 98% of the time and have not detected even the slightest bit of fading on any book. Worry not. |

I would hazard that unless you are comparing them to other copies stored properly of the book there is likely some loss even if your eyes cannot detect it.....aside from the invisible damage to the paper itself, which is inescapable once the paper is exposed to light, and far worse than the actual fading and color loss. Often you may display something for years, and then remove it and store it....while stored it will then begin to discolor and become brittle even. A good test might be to resubmit some of the slabs displayed the entire length of time for a regrade......your eyes become accustomed to the levels of gloss and color as they change due to the slow and almost imperceptible pace it happens, but the damage is accumulative, and does happen . Drawing the shades has little significance...for instance the light from a simple acqarium light can douse a room with more UV light than the entire sun does on a typical day. That being said, they are your books to do what you like...but the science is fairly solid. Myself I make a high fidelity zerox scan of the book, print it on cardboard, and mylar and bag that, and display that if I just have to toss an expensive or signed book up to look at...… I never really believed it was that harmful either until I displayed some transformers and boxes in a display close to a window for a few years.....they looked fine when I removed them and placed them in storage . Opening them up a few years later I was surprised to find them badly discolored, and the plastic having a badly hazed and crumbling surface. Sunlight ….. |

For rooms with displays, you can always UV coat your windows. Plus it helps maintain temp. https://www.amazon.com/Control-Residential-Window-Office-Climate/dp/B01CDA9BA4/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=uv+window+tint&qid=1562249299&s=gateway&sr=8-17 |

That's a fantastic display idea and one that I instantly wanted to emulate. It's a toss up for me though, because my whole point in getting slabbed books is to appreciate them on the wall or on the bookshelf like a work of art and a pride point for my collection. By the same token, I don't want a 9.6 book to become a 7.5 in a decade because of exposure, even with shades drawn. Is there any answer to this, other than just keeping them in a box? Thanks in advance for any thoughts! ![]() |

@BigRedOne1944 that’s a sweet wall/storage unit. I just ordered the UV protection for the window in basement, it’s not in direct sight of the comics but still, just to be safe. And I will be rotating frequently. I am going to build some shelves for my boxes of issue. Those are about a month away. I have all these character boxes and don’t want to toss them out with a built in wall storage system, even though that is pretty dang sweet. |

@billkruser5 Understandable of the Character Boxes. I would love to get a look at them. The vinyl J-Channel is just so versatile and almost like it was made for comic book wall displays. I used a similar solid J-Channel for the book rails on the fronts of my Drawers. ![]() |

I dont display or have any experience with this company, but perhaps you might be able to find something comparable. A UV skin applied to the CGC or CBCS graded case https://thecollectorsresource.com/uv-safe-graded-comic-book-slab-protectors/ |

I would miss my books too much, Doc Savage choking out a snake, Lois Lane turning into a black woman, Wild Boy killing a rhino. A box just won’t do for me. But that’s me. ![]() |

My wife's a photographer so we have her photos on the walls. I however have a comic book desk. It's always dark. I never turn on the lights above the desk. Only once to take these pics. And I have heaps of storage. But only using three drawers ATM to store slabs original art and raw books. Though I'd love a comic room but just don't have a extra room in my condo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

As I said I have no light over the computer desk. And no sun does damage. There is a comic shop close to the in-laws place I visit once a year for supplies like mylars and a good laugh. He has old books up under shop lights. The Spidey 129 my God looks like a variant white cover. I kid you not it is not pale yellow but bleach white due to the shop lights. And he asks a drunken price for the book. So I understand people's concern of light and sun exposure. If it's cool and not direct sunlight. I'd still rotate books ect. And except the marvel fantasy in 9.2 the books I display don't go over 4.5. and that is a reason I choose those books.

More than sufficient is great until you have the books graded, regraded, or the page quality checked...then it can and sometimes does become problematic. |

One solution would be to display the facsimiles. Unfortunately not all the keys have one especially anything modern.

These are the boxes I don’t want to get rid of in favor of a storage unit. So I am going with a 8’ x 4’ cedar shelving unit to set them on next to the wall. And best of all with this new rack is I can put my daughters ASM #300 she drew me a while ago because she knew how much I wanted it. So she made it for me. By far the most valuable comic on the wall to me. (As you can see I did get ASM #300 but it’s not as cool as hers) |

The Character Boxes are indeed very cool! I can see your attraction to them. Your Wall rail system is also looking very cool! I might have to do a wall display as well ![]() One suggestion. I would trim the slotted mounting strip back on the very ends so that it is recessed and doesn't show on the very ends. PS: Love your daughters work ![]() |
