May I ask how you are shipping it? Media mail?
I have a ton of books that I'm trying to off load and I'm trying to find out what would be the best way to ship.

@Peanutt well, I would probably see how many I can get in a priority flat rate box 1st, and go from there. I was probably thinking 2 priority flat boxes and eating the cost of one. Media mail is an ambiguous area...some say it's a gamble and you could have it returned or buyer be charged cost. I have never had these issues. So it's kind of your call. But since I was charging 14.95, I'm going to start at priority. There really is no great way to bulk out comics...its why so many people give up and trade at lcs, piece out on ebay...or even chuck em

Ya media mail can be iffy, but if it's all books, it should be ok.

We got stuck paying on some MyLites and boards once. Half went through just fine and half were considered not media-worthy. I spoke with the lady at the PO and she explained it is kind of subjective.

I've very leery of shipping via media mail. I've heard horror stories about it, so I have steered clear of it.
Thanks for the info. 👍

Problen is it violates postal policies anything printed that contains ads is not media mail and if inspected will cause the item to be returned or requiring the receiver to meet actual shipping charges. If you don't get inspected life is great I guess...but if you do it isn't so awesome

@Darkseid_of_town - I understand media mail items should not include ads, but what always bothered me is that unless you are shipping practically brand new issues, how would old advertisments violate the rules? It’s not like you could still order 100 army men for 10 cents from a Siver Age add! I don’t use Media Mail to ship comics, but have received several comics that way from ebay sellers (even though I try to avoid buying from sellers who use it, some don’t specify how they ship and/or use it anyway).

Apparently the media mail was created in 1938. Back in those days, I would imagine there were toy soldiers in ads. I would imagine revisions in rules are fewer than postage stamp price increases.

But I think that the "spirit" of the rules is what is being broken when shipping stuff that is questionable. Trying to find escape clauses and holes in logic will always be pursued, but I think most folks know, what's right and wrong. They just want to save a buck. Or buck the system so to speak.

I spoke with my post office and they said absolutely comic books can go media mail.

I use it exclusively, as it allows for a much more secure packaging of comic books at a reduced shipping cost to the buyer. It allows me to double box all packages, including single books.

Ive never had an issue or complaint. The one down side is it takes a bit longer for delivery.

Of coarse if a customer request a priority mail box and is willing to pay 3 times the shipping cost I will certainly accommodate their request.

In fact I prefer my books also be shipped to me double boxed media mail, rather than the priority envelope with two flimsy pieces of cardboard that almost always get bent and ruined, or a priority mail box at 3 times the cost.

More secure bombproof packaging at a fraction of the cost. Its a win win for seller and buyer.

This gets litigated in the forum every once in a while; I guess it's time again? Different post offices seem to handle media mail differently. I've personally had a package of comics sent back to me, other people have never had an issue and even had @BigRedOne1944's experience where an employee tells them it's fine.

I sent comics Media mail once and my local post office sent me a registered letter to stop doing so. My wife had to sign for the letter. So yeah, it seems some post offices care and some do not. My brother is a mailman and he said by him, they open Media mail packages everyday.

Personally, I think it sucks because I can't use media mail and when I sell books on eBay, I'm at a disadvantage price-wise to those who do.

I think this why old comics are included in the rule; No comic period removes the inconsistencies from varying Post Offices that I've read about so many times.

Bottom line regardless what some misinformed local postal official.might offer is that according to the national postal code enforced by the Us postmaster it is not allowed and can be enforced. Send things how you like but beware the possible consequemces

@Enelson My apologies for side tracking your thread. On the bright side it kept your Spiderman books bumped to the top.

Again I apologize for getting off topic.
