Possible pfishing or scamming site...9256

Collector Darkseid_of_town private msg quote post Address this user
Has anyone else stumbled across the site....www.mycomicsshop.com ?
Make note of the extra S included in the title...it is not the same site as the well known comic dealer in texas, Buddy Saunders. I was looking it over and discovered that clicking the link for comic deals triggers a virus and spyware breach and security issues at my end. I wanted to both question if others had similar experiences and perhaps warn people...I do not believe the site is valid and is likely using spyware or other malware. If you visit the site please be cautious ….I could be wrong but my own impression was not a good one.

@Darkseid_of_town good shout I'm staying well away as definitely seems to be seeking unsuspecting clicks from the legitimate site that some of us know 👍

A few people have let us know about it. I don't know that there's a lot we can do, but we'll look into it. The best thing to do is just not visit it, both to avoid any trouble and to avoid giving it any traffic.

Where did you see the posted link?

It's a good habit to avoid using links from unknown parties, even if it's to sites you're familiar with, if you can just as easily open a new window through your favorites. In my job training, that extra letter or character is intended to be unnoticed, when a legitimate source would want to be unique.

Thanks for one of the reminders on "How Not To Get Cyber-Screwed". Many who have never had a problem, or haven't for a long time can easily become complaisant.

I hadn't bothered with favorites yet on this newer 2 in 1....and besides I use that place enough that generally when I type Myc and get that far, it prods me to the proper destination..but this time the first result wasn't the real deal. I went on over to have a look around and quickly realized and said to Toto....looks like we aint in Kansas anymore.
Tried a few of the links an managed to trigger every warning, and screen that could load on this thing.....suggesting I call everyone from Microsoft, to Taco Belle, an maybe even Chick Fil A....shut it down.

My old company used to work with Home Depot nearly exclusively at the time. Google chrome's very first link was a trap one day. So it doesn't always mean you typed it wrong. Even the link results directly from Chrome can be problematic.

what is googles criteria for acting on such a thing...is it because of the apparently obvious parallel to another site or because links or purposes on this site seem to be ill intended?

There's an internet naming authority. A complaint can be filed with them.
