Westerns for the MCU?9229

COLLECTOR JLS_Comics private msg quote post Address this user
It sounds like Feige et al are considering tapping in to the Western genre of marvel's catalog, meaning characters like Red Wold, Rawhide Kid, 2 Gun Kid, etc. (which might be phase 5 or beyond)

It's a very interesting thought!

What other characters or books/stories would you like them to use from Marvel's westerns?

They should find out who has the rights to Simon and Kirby's Bullseye!

I believe Bulls Eye is likely in public domain. 1954 so renewal period is expired if they ever filed for copyright in the first place. Allot of publishers would post copyright in the book but not file with the office. Added expense and effort for what was thought of back then as a disposable media.

Charlton bought Mainline's unpublished materials after they went under in '56. In 1983, DC bought most of Charlton's IP as they were now closing up shop but that was the superhero stuff.

This guy from Canada named Roger Broughton bought the rest for a company called AGC Comics who still has the rights. About a decade ago they struck a deal with Dark Horse for licensing on some of the Charlton stuff they're still holding on to.

At least this is how I understand the story and chain of custody to go

Not much of a Western fan, but I just heard Frank Miller is working on a Western prequel to Sin City.

Kinda hope he does the art in Sepia tone instead of monochrome. That would look cool.

Frankly, (not Miller), I would like to see ANY new western. I think its a genre highly underused. I'm still up for a sequel to Cowboys & Aliens... ANYTHING!

@OGJackster I found it lacking.

Edit; the movie. Not the show. Loved the show.

I can always go for a good Western. I enjoyed the recent remakes of 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit.
