Grading Question9223

Collector kevinlmillard private msg quote post Address this user
Hello I picked up the two comicbooks below this weekend and wanted to know how bad the cut outs will effect grade and value. AMS has 2 coupons cutout in the middle and ASM 46 has the large cut out of the front. Regardless still very happy to pick them up and the price to myself was great!

Nice comics! Too bad about the cut outs.... that really hurts the grades...

The one with the coupons or mail-ins should be higher as long as it doesn't impact the story. No idea what the actual impact on grade will be, but should be higher than 3.0 I believe.

Would it be worth it to clean, press, and grade them?

This is an added value question. Not sure what you paid for them, what they sell for, or how much added value you'd get. My guess would be press and clean, maybe (some forum goers have suggestions for people who do that) just for aesthetics on the one with a full cover. For grading; maybe just find an alternative way to encase them without grading, that allows you that option in the future if it become economical. If you really like em, and get the pressed/cleaned/graded just for you; not concerned with value added, then go for it. Grade what you want to grade.

@kevinlmillard I'd just get the 101 pressed, cleaned, and graded. With the movie coming out soon, I'd get it happening sooner than later. You can probably then turn around and sell it for a profitable amount with the movie hype.

Pressing will not improve the grade of either one of these books, if that is the result you are looking for.
