Looks like this list took the high sales, not the average. Or it averaged the 1:10 variants into its pricing.

I remember thumbing through issue 1 and setting it back on the shelf. Now I look at the prices and don't know if I should shell out for the first print Ross covers in the hope the prices continue to rise or just wait for the bubble to burst.

One of the things is, the 9.8 seems hard to get. Nearly all printings have huge amounts of color rub on the black areas of the front and back covers. I've got 4 of them here and they all look to be around 9.4 due to that rub. Nowhere near a 9.8.

If you have one raw , get the backing board off it immediately as it sucks out the colour .. I had a nice copy that transferred quite a bit of its back cover to the backing board in the 5 or so months I bagged it. It's now bagged and not boarded in a top loader |

Quote:Originally Posted by Wraith I call this “marvel rub.” Whatever ink marvel uses seems to rub off and transfer to the backing board or adjacent comic. Oddly enough it doesn’t seem to transfer to Gerber Full Backs. All marvels, even shop variants, are at risk of this. I’ve even seen lighter colors (light grey) have scuffs near the staples. Top loaders will break your bank if you’re an avid reader of marvel series. Time is of the essence...I think the worst rubbing occurs in the first few weeks after hitting the shelf. I avoid ordering marvel comics online as the week they are in transit they slide around in transit to me and that’s where I’ve seen the worst of it. My LCS immediately bags comics without boards and that seems to be the best result. The lowest cost alternatives is to buy both modern and silver age bags and silver age boards. Place the comic in the modern bag, then place it in a silver age bag with the board. |

I am actually the Immortal Hulk run. The covers are all great and the writing is just what the doctor needed. Just scored a #1 raw Dale Keown variant and when I opened it, it had a double cover with the inside cover being the Ross cover! I am normally strictly silver and Bronze, but this book is an enjoyable read. Wraith, thanks for the advice! Nuff said....

And to answer the OP, sell. Buy the trade if you like the story. I think they’ll hold some value, but it seems the initial FOMO is over and everyone who was desperate to get their copies has got them. I think collectors/speculators interest is going to go to the next shiny object and prices will slowly go down...and stabilize at some point...unless there’s some movie announcement related to theses characters...seems unlikely for a long time. |

With the first appearance of Red Harpy and The immortal abomination in issue 18 I think people who slow down now will get caught sleeping. Factor in the iconic covers done by Ross.... solid writing etc. Production seems to be up with demand now, but I think many people will slack off now and the printing runs will get smaller and some will get caught napping again here |

Quote:Originally Posted by Doc_Cop That's an awesome double cover! You know, I had a #1 that I had read and liked, and I belatedly realized might be worth some cash, like, a few weeks ago. So I finally put it in a bag and board. Seeing the cover of #2 here, I could have sworn that I had picked it up, too. So I looked around for it. Found the TPB, and thought, "Oh, okay. THAT'S what I bought." But then I found it last night! Thought maybe it was just the fifth printing or something, but the indica didn't say ... which usually means it's a first printing. Long story short, I found the receipt that had the right date for the 1st printing. Sending it now to get graded so I can sell the hell out of that thing. It's awesome that it's selling for so much. I hope it lasts until I get it back. |
