Picked these up last week, reliving my youth. Purple edged first prints, starting in 1966, and a couple throw in other Howard books. It appears first prints sell for no more than all the later ones, must be a million of these

These are new and were recalled for some reason I do not know. I don’t dabble in new books successfully, but rolled the dice

From what I understand, these issues aren’t supposed to have the ‘Year of the Villain’ banner on them. Hence, the recall.

eBay bargain set for a mere $17.99...listed as 9.4, but much better IMO!

Thanks @Batman66. Figured low grade is a good start with most of my current purchases.

well that's what this thread is for, to celebrate with fellow collectors with whatever book or grade they acquire

That's how I filled my Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers runs; Start with low grades when needed, then upgrade when possible. I just bought a Fantastic Four #12 CGC 1.0 to fill the space in that run, and will probably upgrade VERY gradually whenever possible. My younger brother will buy my undercopies.

Nothing big, but I just won one of the Black Widow hats they handed out in Hall Hall H at SDCC this year for pretty cheap.

I really wanted one, so I’m pretty happy.

@Helric1 I've got one too

Plot
For the first time in over 70 years, Exciting Comics returns to stores! In this premiere title, Antarctic Press introduces the Superverse, a new shared universe that combines classic public domain characters such as Black Terror and the Heap with a host of new, original heroes!

Notes
Paying homage to Crime Suspenstories #22, this distressed tribute to pre-code comics turns the tables from the original as Mike Rooth delivers an instant classic. LIMITED to 300 total.

With some serious trading , negotiating, and back and forths I managed to trade and Score these two ….hoarding that Kirby goodness for the day it gets it's moment to shine.
The 134 represents a nice step up in grade from my other copy, and the 135 is just a bonus to make the day even better.

these books came from the Esaravo collection...and if you haven't wandered through his sales offerings you owe it to yourself. Very fair, trustworthy, and he packs his comics to withstand a full out Hulk visit !!!

The 79 and 80 will be going in for grading. I think they are legit 9.8 candidates. Picked up Kingdom Come after reading its praises in the limited series thread.

This came in today's mail. A moment of weakness during ebay's last ebucks promotion. I always thought that Mike Ploog's work was underrated and undervalued. His work on horror titles reminds me of Bernie Wrightson's to some extent.

I’m always impressed by how you find such high grade raw books. Where do you find these things? Not in long boxes, I assume...
