| I received the newly published Overstreet Price Guide today. I have never had one of these price guides before, so I was surprised to find prices are only listed for these grades: 2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, 9.0, 9.2. That leaves out a lot of what I would consider valuable pricing data. Especially the data for 9.4 through 9.8. Is there a good reason for these grade levels to be excluded? |

| General rule of thumb (of course there are many exceptions): 9.4 is equal to roughly 1.25 to 1.5 times the 9.2 value; 9.6 is roughly 2X the 9.2; and 9.8 is usually around 3X the 9.2 value. 9.9's and 10's are mostly imaginary and go for ridiculous multiples of 9.8's (plus a pond of flesh AND your first born). I also check the recent sales prices at GoCollect.com. |

| The price guide is just one tool you have these days. It's like a hammer, it won't do much for your screws. A guide that reflected everything you need to know would probably take up five volumes? If you feel a need for something that would suit you better, that might be worth inventing. I'd like a guide that published all the different variant covers. | ||

| Comicspriceguide.com is a good source for finding images of all the variant covers for an issue, but they are not 100% on all covers, especially newer releases. I mainly bought the new OS as a novelty, since I never had one, rather than a go to tool. I can find most prices I need rather quickly from searching the various online resources. |

This book has a lot of interesting write ups in the front by a lot of well informed people in the hobby about the current trends they are seeing. I think there's more value in the articles than the actual guide.![]() |

| I always enjoyed the market reports that are grouped together near the front. There are also some pretty good articles in some issues. I really enjoyed the story of Robert Overstreet helping to sort and catogorize the Gaines file copies. That one was a few years ago. Very good reading. | ||

| The biggest downfall of a printed guide is by the time it is written, edited, and printed it's already probably 6 months behind the market. | ||

| i'd like to hear from the graders. what's the difference between a 9.8, 9.9 and 10.0, and why there isn't a 9.3, 9.5 and 9.7 grade. if you can tell the difference between a 9.8 and 9.9 why not 9.3 and 9.4. heck why should there only be a 8.0 and 8.5? why not and 8.25? imo, these grades are all ridiculous, and a detriment to the collecting community. i can see vf/nm (9.0), nm- (9.2), nm (9.4), and nm/m (9.6)... shouldn't be anything higher. the current system has inflated prices for those poor suckers willing to pay enormous prices for imaginary grades. no such thing as a 10.0. every comic has a flaw. again, imo. |

For anyone who's confused why the point scale was set up the way it is here's the breakdown, it's very simply a transliteration of the old system in number form.![]() |
