CBCS 10 day turnaround promo9001

Collector poka private msg quote post Address this user
Guess the 10 days TAT offer basically jumped the queue as TAT for all other orders has slipped from 5 weeks to 6 weeks during past week.

CBCS should really only make such offers if spare capacity and not at the expense of other orders

Seriously what the hell? My 2 day moderns were submitted 4 weeks ago this Friday. And still no movement at all.

BOOM! Here's the problem. I get that people (including me) are getting better turn around at this time but i have read many instances of old entries (from last year) just reaching the end of their long journey. I am not talking about hearsay, i read on another thread where the person complained about their books not showing movement for month and all CBCS was willing to do was to let them know that their book was about to go to shipping and would leave soon. What? no apology, no here is the reason, not even I will move your book to the front of the line. I get that CBCs thinks this is good customer service, but it isn't. this is so easy to fix, please don't tell em it isn't because it is, all you have to do is put yourself in the customer's shoes and feel how they feel then see what can and needs to be done. I have been in customer service for most of my 35 plus years of employment and know what I am talking about. I don't want to downplay the strides that CBCS has made to change the TATs but what about the Forgotten few? Please CBCS be more considerate of your customers and stop taking them for granted.

Makes sense, con season is blowing up and the 10 day TAT promotion I'm sure pushed things back. CGC is regularly 12 weeks (they have just verified receipt of on submission at a con over a week ago). I expect mid-summer it'll be 10-15 just due to volume.

Kind of ridiculous it took cgc 10 days to move from being delivered to acknowledging their receipt of them.

This was not the case earlier in the year. My books used to show up as submitted a day or 2 after they received them.

Now it is normal for it to take 1-2 weeks for 'delivered' books to be entered into their system. It is kind of annoying as you never know when you will be billed. Con season...smh.

So another update. I got my books back from CBCS today via Fed Ex. It was actually marked as shipped on Friday 05/24/19 and I guess due to the Holiday weekend it took a couple of extra days to get here, but none the less I got all my books and I am a happy camper for the most part. After checking with the grade notes, everything was spot on and I agree with their grading. It was not a rush job on their part in my opinion. The only error I had was the top label was put on the wrong books for my Unnatural #3, the CBLDF variants. The censored label is on the uncensored book, and vice versa. Other then that everything came out great.

On another note, I submitted 4 books 2 weeks prior to this promo and they are still in the vault waiting grading. So yeah they got pushed back big time.

What kind of order was that? Fast pass, 2-day, pressing...?

How does that happen. Do they not even read the label and look at the book? Should be clear which one is censored and which one is not.

Seems like that one was rushed to me. Passed right through quality control as well. Should have been an easy catch if paying attention.

I get it’s a “small” error, and I’m assuming cbcs will make it right on their dime (including shipping costs back and forth). But still annoying.

Please let the community know if there is any hassle getting it corrected.

It was Fast Pass, Pressing, and verified sigs. The books was already done with the pressing and arrived for grading. It was put i their "safe" place until then. This promo was received after it arrived here and I already got it back, with no word about the previous books even going into grading yet.

The 10 day service was a special offer. The offer was only good for one week.

I doubt your regular books have been pushed back. Right now, the normal TAT for grading with Fast Pass is 3 weeks. Signature verification may slow that TAT down a bit more.

@zooks808 If they arrived for grading about three weeks ago (two weeks before the special offer a week ago), they don't seem that far off. Forum members say that VSP usually adds about a week and then you'd have something like 2-4 weeks for fast pass grading (I don't remember if the TAT was listed at 5 weeks back then or if it was still higher). Fingers crossed you see them move into grading pretty soon.

this is what i am refering to.

I grabbed this from another forum post titled "CBCS Turnaround 3.0"

""KMiracleman

WRONG! Order from NOVEMBER OF 2018 is STILL in Processing. VirginCollector: my calls go to an answering service in another country, they promise to call back, and never do. Ricketts claim that "both are in Dallas for grading" was EIGHT DAYS AGO. Six months and counting, folks.""

And the answer from CBCS

"CBCS PRESSING
8.18KSteveRicketts
@KMiracleman Your order is in slab. It should be shipped in the next week or so."

As you can see it's not all gravy and actually needs a lot of work but it's good that folks were able to take advantage of the 10 day turnaround special but had i been CBCS and had seen this post, i would have found this person's book and walked it to through until i handed it to the shipping department and inclouded an appology and some compensation instead of just letting the person know it was still a week or two from being completed. As others have said, there is still someways to go for CBCS to make all things right.

P.S. it wouldn't hurt to bring customer service back to the states so that people who know what's going on could anwer customer concerns promptly.

All other orders were pushed back. What other explanation is there that the TAT went from 5 weeks to 6 weeks the week after the promo?

Lots of them over the past several weeks. Motor City, East Coast and Orlando Megacon were all the same weekend (two weekends ago), Phoenix went down...some well attended stuff over the past couple weeks. I saw someone drop off what must have been 50-75 Golden age comics at the booth at Megacon...eyeballing it had to be well over $100,000 value.

Just make the promotion even worse. Why would you make a promotion like that in peak season?

IDK. Why do businesses have sales six weeks after you purchased something? CBCS explained "why" in the promotional email. It was for dealers and collectors to get their books graded before the convention season gets into full swing.

I would make the assumption that now that CBCS has TAT's comparable with the competition, they are going to run the occasional promotions or specials to get those that have quit using CBCS - or use them infrequently - to come back.

By the logic on display here, it would always be unfair for a business to have specials. Perhaps there is some basis in fact for that. Sales - whether it be better prices or better/quicker service are always going to feel "unfair" to those that paid more or waited longer. But most businesses have sales. Where for a short period of time customers buying now get a better deal than customers did last month, last year.

Unfair?? OK. Maybe. Whatever. Am I the only one whose parents said "Life isn't fair."

BTW, I suspect we haven't seen the last of similar specials. So maybe plan for that.

Anyone ever watch "Kitchen Nightmares"?? Or perhaps "24 Hours to Hell and Back"?? If you have, you are familiar with the "stress test". For those unfamiliar with the show, the premise of it is Chef Gordon Ramsay goes to a failing restaurant and turns it around. To see where the "weak links" are, he packs the restaurant with customers and watches to see what works and what doesn't. IMO, it would not surprise me if that was a motivating factor behind this special. CBCS made some internal changes that resulted in improved TATS. What better way to test it then to run a special at the beginning of the con season? Just my thoughts.

This was my first year sending books in for grading myself, and I happen to take advantage of the promo they were running. Was this the first time a promo like this was ever run? Or do they do stuff like this every once in a while?

Actually i'm hoping for more specals, who doesn't want to save time and money? my beef is with the guy that has been waiting for his books for over 6 months and no one at CBCS is concerned enough to return his emails and phone calls nor seemingly willing to help him. There needs to be better cusotmer service at CBCS, i read too many posts of no return emails and phone messages. this is an easy fix, CBCS please fix this.

My first CBCS submission arrived today. Super happy with most grades. A couple slightly disappointed in but at least they got the check mark by the grade.

Mailed these off on the last day of the promo 5/16 and were shipped out on 6/3

I ended up doing the promo on 34 books and I gotta say, they pulled it off.

-mailed mine out 5/14
-they received it 5/16
-started grading 5/16
-grading was completed 5/24
-shipped out 5/24 - 10 days!
-received them on 5/29 (only b/c it was over a weekend)

I'll do a post very soon with my pre-press/post-press predictions, CBCS grade results, and pics. I'll tell you now, but I was destroyed on my predictions lol. So the grading was strict and not rushed.
