Wow.. This contest really brings out, I think it's called cover swipes (or in todays speak "Homages" and they grumbled because Mattina did a little copying.... Hmmmmmmmmmm.. For the heck of it I searched Ebay for homages, wow there is a lot.. and not even all were listed.. Also I don't see any original artist mentions on the covers.. Though it might be on the inside in the small print..
Nice pick for the contest.. Very Interesting..

I like a properly-credited full-on homage, where the artist clearly signs "after <original artist>" or something like that - on my Batman 251 homage above, Mike Mayhew even mimics the signature of Neal Adams (or maybe even just copy/pasted it?) in his signature "block"

McFarlane did this, for his homage to Action Comics #1. He added "Siegel + Shuster" on the cover next to his signature. (Amazing Spider-Man 306.)
