Just got me email saying my April 20th order is ready to ship!

I submitted books at the Calgary fan expo to CBCS almost 6 weeks ago now. Since then I have received a new credit card so I called to update my billing info on that order and they say they haven't even received my books yet!!!! Should I be worried? I know coming from Canada they are shipped to Toronto before getting re shipped to Dallas but it's been almost 6 weeks is this normal? On there website it says 8 week Max turnaround for Canada I am assuming that gives them a two week Grace in shipping over the 6 weeks. I am a little concerned, anyone else have a similar issue?

Submitted these at Fan Expo Dallas May 3rd & 4th. Picked up today! Loving the new turnaround time. A little disappointed in Venom 3 grade, but overall supper happy.

Just got my shipping notification from a April 15th order of 18 books. Some grades were higher than I expected...others lower.
What I think might be a good idea is to have grader numbers. You know like when you buy a new pack of underwear and you have that tag that say "Inspected by 24".
Anyone else like that idea?

Wouldn't that create grader bias? If I recall correctly, there are also multiple graders per book....

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
Yeah, there are supposed to be multiple graders per book. And CBCS already holds off on releasing grades until the books have shipped because they were getting calls from people complaining or negotiating grades; I don't see any upside to having any kind of ID on who graded your book.

Books submitted at Calgary are at the office in Dallas and will be shipping back within the 8 week time frame.

True, I can see that.
I am not saying I want the name of a grader. But it would nice to be able to compare the books graded by different graders against their notes.

Sent 5 Modern books that were received 2/20/19. 4 of the 5 requires VSP. Pressing for all 5 (no fast press) and then Fast Pass for grading. Still in "processing." Fingers crossed, hoping to hear something soon.

You think it could be customs? Im a little worried about shipping also

Suck it up, buttercup!! KatKomics private msg quote post Address this user
@comichunter76 shouldn't be customs. CBCS ships back using FedEx so doesn't get caught up the same way other parcels might.

FedEx will try and get you to pay for customs brokerage etc. after they have already delivered the package.

DO NOT pay the brokerage/customs fees to FedEx!!! Call them and explain that these were your books sent from Canada for 'appraisal' services and are being returned to Canada - they should waive any fees.

@KatKomics I got caught in a situation where I had to pay customs duties on my submission because FedEx didn't find the "commercial invoice". After asking CBCS to supply me with the commercial invoice I was told that the invoice is attached but that they will send it. Nevertheless I never received the commercial invoice from CBCS and was forced to attach my invoice emailed to my for my submission and was then forces to pay customs duties on my $ 608. Upon receiving the parcel I found that FedEx never even opened the slip case containing the letter stating that the books were only sent for appraisal. I also asked assistance on the forum but, no help or advice was offered.

@TechnoDjinn

sh!t - sorry I didn't see when this happened to you. Whenever FedEx has tried to get me to pay it was always after I had my books so I always took the opinion that they could take me to court cause I wasn't going to pay!!
I'm 97% sure we don't have to pay anything at all - even for the grading service.

The example goes something like this.
Drive your car across to USA and get it washed/detailed and appraised (press/cleaned/graded) - you have added no value to the car - you can drive back and claim nothing.

Drive your car over and get it painted, new tires and a new engine - this is now a 'different' vehicle and you have to pay the tax on the new FMV - in comic parlance you would probably have to pay tax on new FMV for a restoration

same for a diamond ring - have it cleaned and appraised - no tax implications, have it put into a new setting (even though that is the cheapest part) - you now pay on new FMV not just the small amount of the value of the ring vs. the diamond...at which point you rip the diamond out of the setting and say I'll pay tax on the ring (couple hundred $$) and not pay tax on the diamond (thousands??)

All of this should go away when using the CBCS Canada service though yes????

From South Africa though, so no option. I am now reconsidering using FedEx for the whole trip and rather using the courier service that I'm using to send it to the USA(CBCS) as they seem more reliable and it works out cheaper for the shipment from the US to South Africa. Lesson learnt.

I tried to explain to FedEx but they didn't want to listen to me I even spoke to 3 different consultants at FedEx. Really bad experience.

Ditto on an April 17th order. All in all very satisfied, personally, with most of the grades. All autographs came back verified!

Six books were submitted on June 1st at Lost Nation Comic Con near Cleveland, OH and paid for pressing on all six (without pressing fast pass).

Is there any way to ADD the pressing fast pass to the order post-submission to speed things along? And how much "faster" would it get the books through if I were to do so?

Thanks.

@Paint_Monk I think they could. Email customer service and ask. Any kind of fast pass is supposed to cut them time in half, so pressing should be ~4 weeks instead of ~8.

How many weeks does a pressing by CBCS add to a TAT?

@zosocane
Like grading, depends on the book and the value. Pay more, generally get done faster. Link below

Katcomics. No I believe he meant in total not adding 8 to 10 weeks. Just for the ones you are pressing. The others will be about 6 weeks
