| My interests are diverse, so my answers are more along the lines of word association and what comes to mind when I read the questions.. What's your favorite comic book series? 1st thought... Bronze age Incredible Hulk. He wants to be left alone. He fixes the problem if people don't. No mulling over right and wrong. He simply fixes the problem. He's a romantic that goes hopping around the world to find the girl he loves. Notable mentions... Pre-unity Solar at Valiant. After Jim Shooter had the company stolen from him, the stories were garbage. Starseed from Broadway Comics was poised to be a favorite, but the series ended when the company got bought. I wasn't wild about the art, but Dogs of War from DEFIANT had some compelling writing. The hero gets drunk and beats the hell out of a lady in the hospital because he's so repulsed by her. She's runs a child pornography ring exploiting children. He makes a living by beating up drug dealers, taking their money, and living off of it. For non-superhero stuff.. I like Strangehaven (Abiogenesis). What's your least favorite comic book series? I can't pick any specific series that stands out. Stories that come to mind are the Clone saga and Tony Stark becoming a teenager. What's your favorite superhero team? Fantastic Four (Bronze age) What's your least favorite superhero team? Who's your favorite comic book artist? I like different artists for different reasons. Inking makes all of the difference in the world. An all around amazing artist is Bill Sienkevitch. I prefer his more traditional comic art, but his stylized stuff shows genius. Neal Adams w/ Tom Palmer inking ranks high. EC era Al Williamson ranks high. I'm not really a Frazetta fan. Alex Toth is amazing for a minimalistic style. Less can be more. George Perez is amazing, especially when inked by Bob Layton. What's your "secret pleasure" comic book to collect? Charlton Adult Humor comics... HTF and quick reads. A good snapshot of what is now politically incorrect humor. What do you collect that may surprise people (does not need to be comic related)? Marge Simpson toys. I want people to think I have a Marge Simpson fetish. I tell people she's hot. I want friends and family to wonder if I'm seriously fascinated with her. I'm not. Thankfully, they make less merchandise with her than they do Bart or Homer. |
