| One thing that’s driving me nuts... Thanos went to Nidavellir, wiped out the dwarves that used a STAR to forge the gauntlet. Not an easy gauntlet to recreate. The one forge in the universe that could make such a weapon. Yet Tony quickly whips up two of them, easy as building his suit. Did they completely forget the backstory from the previous movies? Someone plz tell me how this makes any sense. |

Quote:Originally Posted by teacha777 I was thinking the same thing. Or rather, I was thinking, "C'mon guys ... you don't just need six stones, you know? There's one more thing you need. Let's not forget the glove." Then I thought, well, getting the glove is easy. They can just go WAY back in time and get the one from the vault in Asgard, before it is replaced with a fake. (Or maybe, THEY place the fake. That'd be a nice callback.) But when they skipped past all that, I just figured it was to save time. The movie was already 3 hours long, and sneaking into the vault in Asgard doesn't have to be difficult or interesting. So, to keep it simple, they just used a little movie magic: assume Stark already thought of that, and used his huge brain, and maybe some Wakanda tech, and built a new gauntlet. Besides, I don't think anyone said the first one was hard to build. It took the dwarfs, sure. And a sun. But they build EVERYTHING with the sun. Maybe this was relatively easy? A lot easier than making, say, Mjölnir, or Stormbreaker. It's not like Stark's latest suit makes any kind of sense anyway. Nano particles in a tiny little container? Hello? Conservation of mass, anyone? |

| I love almost every movie; but it is bothersome to me how technology and stuff making some reasonable sense --- ended up in the final movies as seemingly magic and crazy science. Not one of the finer points of the last several marvel movies |

| Saw the movie last night with the wife. The movie is a trainwreck. So many plot holes, convenient writing hooks, and basic laws of physics and quantum physics go out the window with each passing scene. This was not their best effort. This will be a 1-time viewing at the theater and 1-time viewing at home on blu-ray for me. So many other movies and tv-shows that I'd rather re-watch over and over again instead. |

| Spoilers are in this reply, but I went light on details. I just saw the movie. Was the story a surprise? For me, yes. Was it entertaining? Yes. Were there some really neat plot twists? Yes. Was it emotional? Yes. Was the acting good? Yes. Did I like it? Somewhat. Overall it was a disappointment. What I didn't like is that too many good characters had their roles limited to small cameos. I was bored with all the emotional drama lamenting over the lost lives. As a viewer waiting for this movie, I've had plenty of time to think about how that must be painful for the characters. I came to the movie wanting to see how they fix it. I don't like Captain Marvel. Don't like her attitude. Don't like that she's instantly more powerful than all the other heroes, but wasn't able to take out Thanos with one attempt. She can fly through steel space ships, but can't pull off Thano's head or fly through his body?? What is Thanos' body made of? Thor can do what he did early in the movie, but Thanos is able to take on everyone at the end. The balance of power and abilities is severely out of whack. Captain Marvel's absence during the specified time came across as lazy writing. I didn't like fat Thor. Yeah, it was funny for a few scenes. I go to superhero movies to see super-powered individuals do super-poewered things. Thor in this movie was a joke. I'm sure it alienated all females over the age of 12 who wanted to drool over his body. Maybe it expanded his acting ability. Maybe it was funny for awhile. I disagree with the choice to disregard what a female audience went to the movie to see. Hawkeye is a filler character. I've never cared about his awesome abilities. There was way too much of him in the movie. It was a good opening scene, but he shoots a bow and arrow. Don't care. I was bored with him in the movie. His role towards the end made him useful and relevant which was good considering he's not important otherwise. Don't like a smart Hulk. Never have, never will. Hulk was the only introvert in the Marvel universe. That made him different. Don't take away what makes him unique and uncontrollable. This movie depowered, demotivated, and pulled away all the extreme ass kicking I really wanted to see. Depowering powerful characters is lazy writing in my opinion. Writers can't come up with ideas to be a challenge to these characters, so they depower them to make them more vulnerable. This is not why I like a character. I like a character that is capable of doing more and being more. Nebula. Boring character. They used her well to move the story forward, but I'd prefer if they'd just left her out. Antman/Giant man. I like everything about the character. They never used him to his full ability in the comics, but they've come through in the movies. Valkyrie. Bleh! Don't care. She works as a sounding board for dialogue. Iron man. Robert Downey Jrs. contract is up. His fate does not have to be the same as Tony Stark's fate. Why is the personal choices of Downey Jr. linked to Tony Stark's fate in the movie? Black Widow. Another third tier character that got way too big of a role in this movie. I'm honestly tired of seeing Scarlett Johansson. She's a great actress, but I'm tired of seeing her. I really don't want to see a Black Widow stand-alone movie. I guess it'll be instant ticket sales after this one. Captain America. Chris Evans always does an excellent job with him. No gripes or complaints with him and one scene fighting on the walkway was excellent. Black Panther/Shiri - Underused. Dr. Strange - Underused. One of the best characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I like the scene where he looked at Iron Man and the scene paused with communication occurring and no words. War Machine/Falcon - Throw-away characters that were used the right amount. Spider-Man. He's too big of a character to be used as little as he was. The scenes where he did do a lot were too busy with too much going on. Gamora. I'd rather have looked at her more in the movie rather than looking at Nebula. Guardians of the Galaxy. Too much Rocket Raccoon and not enough Groot. Scarlett Witch - Don't like the character, but at least she finally did something with her powers. Her moment at the end was good. I'm sure I left a lot out. The movie was a mixed bag. Some rally cool stuff and a lot of wasted screen time. If the story had been more predictable, I'd be saying I hated it. They mixed things up. Didn't like the ending. I don't like any endings that are dragged out after the action is over. Watching layers of characters CGI'd in front of other characters row after row was silly to me at the end. |

| There are 20+ superheroes in this movie...there is no way each one can get equal screen time. A large percentage of the characters will be underused unless they make a 6 hour film. | ||

Quote:Originally Posted by GAC They picked the wrong ones or used the good ones poorly by weakening their powers or their resolve. My theory on why Hulk wasn't used in the last movie is that the CGI team that normally would work on Hulk spent all their man hours on Thanos instead. All previous Marvel "team" movies gave fair screen time to all of the characters. If they hadn't wasted time in the 1st two acts with all the sad drama, they could have spaced out the action and spotlighted more characters. Think how much money they saved on CGI by filming Scott Lang yell out to the boy on the bicycle (who doesn't answer) then wanders around looking for names of people who died. Sure it evokes emotion, but at the expense of me seeing Dr. Strange more. |

It wasn't perfect though, as uhhh...you know...SPOILER he isn't around anymore. All he had to do was make two regular Iron Man style gloves, as the secret is in the sauce, AKA what powers the suit, not the high-tech suit material. That's why in both instances the glove melted, same as Thanos's Gauntlet. Thanos's Gauntlet was equal in power to Tony's created element, both comparable to an individual infinity stone. I believe the magic of Thanos's Gauntlet comes from the star's energy not the material. That's why Hela just crunched Mjolnir, it's like a decent material but its the lightning, flying, and worthiness that makes it special/powerful(like Tony's element as a part of his suits). Obviously, these are just my assumptions based on what I've seen from all the movies so far. |
