I picked up this Iron Man for pretty cheap, but it has tape down the spine. The staples are firmly attached, so not sure why tape was added. I made a couple scans of the book, but how much does this hurt the grade?![]() ![]() |

That is a VERY nice looking copy- How frustrating it is to see tape when you say it isn't needed. I don't know how much it hurts, but it hurts. Obviously it can be removed, but aside from the benefits of it simply no longer being there, how much it recovers will depend on what signs it leaves behind. If I owned this, I would pay to have it removed no matter what- Even if I were going to sell it. If left there it will most likely look worse as the years go by. |

Do you mind my asking what grade it was advertised as being?

@BrandonR Ah. Sure looks like an 8.5-9.0 (with a press), aside from the tape of course. I can't remember if CFP removes tape. If so, that's who I'd use fwiw. Still, a great find. Hope you find other 'treasures'. |

the page if u remove the tape it will show where the tape was and leave a film of glue where the tape was. that happened on a book I had. when I had another book with tape on I took a hair dryer holding it not too close keep moving it up and down the area where the tape was placed most of the glue remaning did not show up as bad. I use this trick when some one puts a price label on the comic book itself it works. this looks like really old tape and I would keep looking for ans. besides looking it up on google.

I'm not sure, but I'd assume different types of tape would require different methods of removal. I can see heat from a hairdryer leaving adhesive behind. I have no idea what the pros do. |
