Gold Key Magnus Robot Fighter879

Collector AndyRexia private msg quote post Address this user
Anyone else collect this? I'm not old enough to have read it when it was first released but I'm a sucker for old sci-fi. The covers look good the the books seem relatively inexpensive. I'm hoping to win the auction on this one later today:

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has interest in this title. If you do, please share your thoughts or any books you have. I like the concept behind the plot.

Russ Manning's artwork is worth the price of admission.

I just traded 4 of the older Magnus issues (about 2 months ago).
I have 8 or 10 of the series from the 90's.

I love 'em! Haven't gone after a high grade #1 yet, and I really should.

I was working on a Magnus set for a while, but phasing out a lot of my comic collection. I have two copies of #1 in Shipping right now, and another 34 magnus books in process with CBCS.

It's a great series. George Wilson did some of his best work IMO on Magnus. Extremely hard books to find in super high grade.

I really like them and I think I'm going to go after a complete run of them.

Magnus was basically my introduction to Sci-fi comics when I was a kid. I absolutely LOVE them!!! I don't actively seek them out right now, but if I run across them I pick them up. I'm REALLY concentrating on my Cap volume 1 run right now.

Careful. You might offend some University of Florida Gator fans. 😂

I avoid all confusion by calling it a tunic.

I could have sworn a tunic was a long top -- not a bottom.

I hear ya. I've been hitting my ASM run pretty hard lately. Maybe MRF will be a nice break in between ASM keys.

Breathability. That's where it's at!

Exactly! A top -- not a bottom. No holes for legs. Whatever that is Magnus wears involves two holes for legs.

So is it a tunic and some Nike compression shorts? (See, this is why I went with a skort.) One thing is for sure: it's very clingy when it wants to be.

Is there anything I need to watch for when collecting these? I've seen a reprint of #1 but it said reprint right on the cover. I don't want to end up overpaying for reprints or something like that. Any info is much appreciated.

Same cover art, but darker, and no mention of printing.

So that's a legit copy?

The link? Yes.
That's a very useful site, check it out. Most books show every publication containing reprints, or from what source it was reprinted.

Not every book has info- lots of obscure titles no one has offered info on, and maybe some brand new ones, but most comics are listed here. When I see something I'm not hunting for, but looks interesting, I check the GCD for more info.

It's such a useful site. If you want to know every known comic so-and-so wrote/drew/edited whatever, this will tell you. It's how I hunted down most of the lesser known books I have signed by Mike Royer.

GCD is my go to comic info site. I find it a lot easier to use than any other site. Although, I do like Comic Vine for when I want to just look at the covers of a certain series.
