Quote:Originally Posted by xkonk I disagree highly. Gwenpool's first appearance was on the cover of Deadpool's Secret Wars 2 in June 2015. Over the summer girls were cosplaying Gwenpool at conventions and Marvel took notice. That came out waaaay before the November release of Howard the Duck #1 vol 6 is in January 2016... |

Quote:Originally Posted by kaptainmyke I don't see why the separation in time matters. The question is if a cover appearance alone is enough to be called a 'first appearance'. Is Deadpool's Secret Wars 2 labeled as the first appearance of Gwenpool? After that you can get into the whole 'how do you decide if a cameo counts/but what about Gambit/blah blah blah' question. For a non-Gambit data point on that last part, Captain Marvel 14 and 17 are listed as the first and second cameo appearances of Kamala Khan, and they are true one or two panel cameos. The obnoxiously named All New Marvel Now Point One is listed as the first full appearance. Ms Marvel 1 might say that she becomes the new Ms Marvel. Captain Marvel 14 and Point One are the money books according to gocollect. |

Quote:Originally Posted by kaptainmyke Agreed. Some quick googling says that Howard the Duck is labeled as Gwenpool's first appearance but Deadpool's Secret Wars might be selling for a little bit more but not a big difference, and neither is a big-value book. |

I never met Liefeld so I have no opinion on if he's a nice guy or total loser. I do know that I don't care what he has to say about what constitutes a first appearance of a character as it pertains to one character. If he wants to make an argument for what he thinks the overall criteria should be, I'll listen to that but if he wants to decide what the 1st appearance of specific characters should be, i'm not interested.

Quote:Originally Posted by MR_SigS I wrote this as I was headed to bed last night and could have worded it better. I should of added "in areas where they can". First appearances and such are pretty straightforward. I know there are exceptions, but for the thousands of characters that are out there, there are only a handful of them. After seeing both covers and the panels in Spider-Man/DP # 47, it seems fairly clear to me that both of these books are cameos at best. Major X's first appearance should be Major X #1. It wouldn't surprise me if that is how it gets noted by our community. |

Hopefully you create more accounts and up your trolling to moderate. |

I sold Liefeld some treasuries at a show in Pittsburgh once. He was a nice enough guy to me. I asked him if he was going to charge me $20 to sign the credit card receipt. He laughed.

I'm sure that the fact major x variants for deadpool #10 are exclusives to rob liefelds website, are $100 a pair and are still in stock have nothing to do with robs public proclamation of which issue he thinks should be considered first appearance |
