Just got back the 15 comics that I submitted to CBCS at Rhode Island Comic Con on November 4th. The TAT was around 21 weeks, but that's not taking into account all the holidays. Overall I am very pleased with the product and the grading. The grading didn't always exactly match my guesses, but that's why we pay the professionals for their opinions, and all the grades were pretty close to what I expected. My only complaint is that I have noticed that for my last few orders, several of the bags that protect the slabs have been damaged with either small holes or even some tears, to the point that I have had to replace one or two each shipment. This order was a mix of Marvels and DC titles, and included 12 SA comics, 2 BA comics, and 1 Copper Age comic (with a witnessed signature). All of the books have been in my personal collection for over 30 years, and none of the books were pressed. |

So where do I start? How about Avengers #15? I predicted this book would rate an 8.0. |

Here's Avengers #18. I predicted an 8.5 and was right on target according to CBCS. |

I also submitted two Fantastic Four comics. Here's FF #60 with a great Kirby action-packed cover. I guessed a 9.2, so I was a little too optimistic. |

The second one is FF #112, an issue I purchased new off the Newsstand back in the day. I though that my 11-year old self (and the mostly black cover) would bring the grade down to about a 7.0, so I was pleasantly surprised with this grade. Another great fight scene cover, but this one is by John Buscema and Joe Sinnott. |

Only one Spidey in this batch, but IMO it has one of the best JR Sr. covers. Another pleasant surprise grade-wise, as I expected an 8.0 because it's another tough black cover. |

What's a SA submission without a few X-Men? Here's an issue that I took years to acquire, then ended up with 3 in about 4 months time. I traded the worst-looking one off, and submitted this one for grading. I still have a raw that I might submit in a few months. I wasn't sure if the grease pencil markings would impact the grade, so I figured it would grade around a 5.0 (or possibly a little lower). |

I thought this next issue would grade around an 8.5, so I was a little disappointed in my assessment of the comic. |

I also thought this issue would be in the 8.0 to 8.5 range. Another great cover. |

This is the last X-Men of the batch, and another one I over-graded, expecting (okay, hoping for) a 9.0. With such a bright white-looking cover, I also didn't think it would get C/OW page quality. ) |

On to the DCs. I only had one comic signed at RICC, the only Copper Age comic in this order (another one I purchased new back in the day). It was great to meet Ms. Peterson in person, and yes, she is still a very beautiful woman. I knew this one had a few spine nicks, so I only expected a 9.4 at best. |

I think in general, SA DCs are very under-valued compared to Marvel titles from the same time period. In addition, they are very rare in high grades. I didn't expect the next comic to rate a high grade, but was hoping for a 7.0. This is only the second appearance of Batgirl, and it's priced way less than #359 (and in MUCH better shape than my #359, too). |

I have started to put together a little run of SA Adventure Comics. I expected this next issue to rate a 9.2 or even a 9.4. It received the 9.2, but it's also the first comic that I have had graded to receive the Exceptional White page quality designation! Pretty neat for a comic from 1963. How scarce is this comic in high grade? There are only 6 on the CGC Census with a higher grade. I am disappointed that CBCS didn't image it as a Featured Comic. |

This Adventure Comic features both a Bizarro Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes on its cover! I was expecting a 9.0 or 9.2, and was not disappointed. |

Down to my last two comics. This Superman from 1965 has a beautiful yellow cover. I was expecting a 9.0 or 9.2, and although CBCS sided with my lower figure, it also earned the Exceptional White page quality designation. |

Saved my best for last. I had never received a 9.6 grade on a SA DC comic before. I had this pegged as a 9.2, maybe a 9.4, so I was ecstatic to see the 9.6 with Exceptional White page quality! According to the CGC Census, this copy is tied with only 5 others for the HIGHEST graded, and I know that CGC doesn't offer (yet anyway) the Exceptional White designation. Why CBCS didn't feel this copy was worthy of their Featured Comic section is anyone's guess, but I sure think it's pretty special. |
