I need opinions. There's a really cool Marvel splash page from 1976 up for auction I'm thinking of bidding on. If I win I'm planning on framing it for display on my wall. The word balloons are missing. My question is- Will it affect the value of the piece if I have someone professionally replace the word balloons? Or should I just frame it as is? Thanks! As is, if you do anything to it, almost like restoration. You know how ugly that word is

Print this and frame it next to the OG art. |

@major99 Cut out the word panels from a photocopy and attach them onto a transparent sheet of Mylar. Layer this Mylar sheet in front of the artwork and then have it framed. It will appear as though it is one complete page without affecting the original piece of art. This is similar to what Iām thinking with the original artwork underneath and word balloons instead of an apple on the top layer. |

Grand comics database says this: Pencils: Jim Sherman Inks: Sonny Trinidad ?; Tony DeZuniga ?; ? [as the Tribe] And here's what the Who's Who of comics says: TRIBE, THE Name and vital stats TRIBE, THE [aka ACTION ART STUDIO] Note Group of New York-based artists from The Philippines Studio personnel ALCALA, ALFRED (super/pen/ink/) 1977-78 > 77 78 DE ZUNIGA, MARY (co-own/) 1977-78 > 77 78 DE ZUNIGA, TONY (head/) 1977-78 > 77 78 GORDON, ANDRE (ink/) 1977-78 > 77 78 LANDGRAF, KEN (pen/ink/) late-1970s > 77 78 79 MONJI, ED (pen/ink/) late-1970s > 77 78 79 NANCO, CHUCK (ink/) 1977-78 > 77 78 NEBRES, RUDY (pen/ink/) c1977-78 > 77 78 I noticed the names from GCD are not in the Who's Who. If you do more digging, I'm sure there is more info out there. |

Some of the most talented artists to ever do onics, IMO. Very underrated and often overlooked. Their inks are a thing of pure beauty. Much of their work was "twice up" which is even larger than most standard original artwork, which just adds to the beauty of it. Congrats on a very nice piece. |

Best of luck in the auction. I've owned pages by Alcala, Tony DeZuniga and Rudy Nebres, and they were absolutely stunning.
