@Joosh @GAC is right my man. Although it’s a beautiful book you’ve entered for the contest, I’m just keeping it to Marvel Comics version of Captain Marvel this week. Again though, what a beautiful book that is! Wish I had it in my collection! |

Alright everyone, after our tiebreaker it looks like we’ve got a winner - @Dshel61! Congratulations on the win! I also want to thank @xkonk for your final entry as well; what a beauty of a cover. Both were fantastic tiebreaker entries, and thanks again to all who participated this week. Cheers!

Zombiebigfoot voted for DShel three times then declared him the winner when I think we're still tied. But it's cool, happy to get some votes!

I have a suggestion for the next tie-breaker. The rules already state that if there is a tie, an entry in a CBCS holder wins. I would like it to also state that if neither or both are in a CBCS holder, then the FIRST cover posted of the two wins the tie-breaker. This would encourage members to post their covers as soon as they can after the contest opens. It will also put an end to sudden-death, which doesn’t always work out. What do you think? Does anyone else have an opinion or suggestion? If you agree with this idea, give this post a . |

If I didn't win fairly then I shouldn't post the next contest. Should someone pull the post down?

In an oversight on my part during the tiebreaker I mistakenly hit the like button for @Dshel61’s book three times instead of once. This in no way was to show any favoritism or bias, just a goof up on my end. So, when I declared the winner on Friday, I’d thought all of the votes were in & went ahead with my decision. Again, this was my mistake and was in no way meant to make @xkonk feel slighted in any way.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. | drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
Two thoughts 1 Nothing wrong with a second sudden death in the event of a tie the first time. 2 At this point we should probably just roll with the new thread despite the error. |

It was a one trick pony show but always hilarious. | GAC private msg quote post Address this user
what we could also do is...let the new thread ride but in the 1st post of the next thread declare dshel61/xkonk both as winners...just a thought.

Let's put it this way, if you DON'T think this a good idea, speak now. Otherwise, let's do it starting next contest. |

Quote:Originally Posted by Jesse_O I posted earlier that having s second (overtime) tie-breaker would be my preference. That way the winner would ultimately have submitted the best cover in each round instead of simply posting a cover faster. Also, we get to see more covers. |

@drchaos - The tie breaker covers seemed like a good idea at first. The problem I see with the sudden death tie-breaker, Corey, is that when you find out there’s a tie (and we have had 3-way ties too), you are at work and either can’t check the thread or don’t have access to another scan or pic of a cover. Sometimes one person posts another cover right away, and the other(s) doesn’t get posted right away, or not at all. So no one knows what to do, or how long to wait before naming a winner and starting the next contest, because we have no official cut-off time for when the tie breaker ends. If that system is kept, we have to put in language that says something like “In the even of a tie, a second cover must be submitted by noon Friday, and voting will run from noon untill midnight. If only one cover is submitted by noon, it wins by default.” And then if there is another tie, we go through this process again, delaying the start of the next contest at least another day. My idea is to avoid that situation so that the next contest can be up and running each week without delay, and be fair and impartial to everyone that submits covers. When you think about it, in both cases, if you snooze, you lose. If you want to promote seeing more covers, once the winner is announced, anyone (whether or not they entered that week or not) could submit more covers on that week’s topic on the soon to be old thread. |
