2 things

1) Is she implying that we need a new movie rating to disclose what group of people a movie is made for? ie. women of color, biracial women, teen women of color, teens that are biracial.

2) Her statements alone are racially motivated.

I really get tired of hearing a person say, "as a person of color". Last time I checked, white is a color as well. When I was a kid and I didn't like someone, it was because they were a dick, not because of the color of their skin. Racism is taught and that's why it will never go away especially in today's politically motivated society. It's a crutch for people to use to further their agenda.

white and black are not colors, they are the absence of color or at times can be the presence of all colors

What color is milk? What color is snow? Has Krayola lied to me all these years? Debate it all you want but, it's a ridiculous argument when it comes to the topic of this thread.

This thread lost its topic long ago.

But I think we solved it.

Those who are excited to see the movie, remain excited.

Those who are not interested in seeing the movie, remain uninterested.

YAWN.

I myself, was completely against seeing the movie. I foamed at the mouth at the mention of Brie Larson! I melted my entire Captain Marvel collection and burned the comics.

Until I read through this thread.

I'm a total convert. This will be a movie for the ages! I just wish I still had my action figures.

Rhetorical question for white males over 40:

Q: Does your Spidey sense "tingle" every time you look at the image on the left?

A: If the answer is yes, you might just be a darned old rump fan!

...And that, my friends, is the bottom line.

Spidey got gains.

The film will be fine. The trailers looked generic as hell to me. I wasn't excited for Dr. Strange after seeing the trailers, then it turned out to be one of the more enjoyable Marvel films for me. So Brie don't like 40 year old white guys. I'm not into guys either, so me and Brie are definitely on the hanging out with chicks page.

Casting director:
“Brie, how do you feel about white dudes, given they are a huge portion of your fan base?”

Brie:
“I don’t like them and I’m going to make that very clear when promoting this movie”.

Casting director:
“That shouldn’t offend anyone. You’re hired”.

it isn't a debate. It is simple science and simply understanding the color spectrum white and black are absence of any one color or presence of all color. Scientific fact. Science is fact and never an argument
It became relevent when you stated white is a color when factually it is not.

I think the thing she isn't realizing in her statement although empowering and providing recognition to more groups of people...is that she didn't have to insult the "40-year-old white dude" to do that. She could of been specific to someone she spoke too or something, but she was basically demeaning all middle aged white men. I'm pretty sure this is called rankism (but not a rankist).

I will say this though, I don't think I have ever seen a more awkward pose in all of comic book history than this:

It has nothing to do with her, the costume, the scene...just the body language and positioning of whoever ran this photo shoot and said "yeah, that'll work" was a massive fail.

She has a look of disinterest. It kinda looks like Liefeld touched up the photo because her feet look like hooves. Not sure what's going on.

Allow me to explain. Actor is now the “Politically Correct” term. Many females in the industry do not like the term actress and it is considered an “outdated term”.

Some people even deem it “gender marking”, considering the term as sexist and old fashioned.

Go figure 🤔

What’s next, a princess will now be called prince? 👸 🤴

A waitress is now called a waiter?

The term actor was the correct original term apparently.....per wiki

After 1660 in England, when women first started to appear on stage, the terms actor or actress were initially used interchangeably for female performers, but later, influenced by the French actrice, actress became the commonly used term for women in theater and film. The etymology is a simple derivation from actor with -ess added.[5] When referring to groups of performers of both sexes, actors is preferred.[6] Actor is also used before the full name of a performer as a gender-specific term.

Within the profession, the re-adoption of the neutral term dates to the post-war period of the 1950 and '60s, when the contributions of women to cultural life in general were being reviewed.[7] When The Observer and The Guardian published their new joint style guide in 2010, it stated "Use ['actor'] for both male and female actors; do not use actress except when in name of award, e.g. Oscar for best actress."[6] The guide's authors stated that "actress comes into the same category as authoress, comedienne, manageress, 'lady doctor', 'male nurse' and similar obsolete terms that date from a time when professions were largely the preserve of one sex (usually men)." (See male as norm). "As Whoopi Goldberg put it in an interview with the paper: 'An actress can only play a woman. I'm an actor – I can play anything.'"[6] The UK performers' union Equity has no policy on the use of "actor" or "actress". An Equity spokesperson said that the union does not believe that there is a consensus on the matter and stated that the "...subject divides the profession".[6] In 2009, the Los Angeles Times stated that "Actress" remains the common term used in major acting awards given to female recipients[8] (e.g., A

If the word actress is obsolete, then the Oscar should not be called best actress. They could have a best male actor Oscar and a best female actor Oscar, or if there should be no distinction made in reference to gender, then make it simple and just give one Oscar to the best actor, period.
