Brie Larson said, "I do not need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work for him about [A] Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him. I want to know what it meant to women of color, to biracial women, to teen women of color, to teens that are biracial,"

2 things

1) Is she implying that we need a new movie rating to disclose what group of people a movie is made for? ie. women of color, biracial women, teen women of color, teens that are biracial.

2) Her statements alone are racially motivated.

I really get tired of hearing a person say, "as a person of color". Last time I checked, white is a color as well. When I was a kid and I didn't like someone, it was because they were a dick, not because of the color of their skin. Racism is taught and that's why it will never go away especially in today's politically motivated society. It's a crutch for people to use to further their agenda.

I never even read any Captain Marvel comics. I don't know the story line. I thought Capt M was a guy, now a gal. Is this some kind of Dr Who thing?

It's probably fair to say that a African-American teenage girl has different fears, anxieties, and experiences than a 40 year old white male. I don't think that's racist/sexist to point that out.
Movies are made with demographics in mind. That's all. Most teen girls would rather see "A Wrinkle in Time" than "My Dinner with Andre". I mean, if they love Andre, great! but that's not the audience producers had in mind. Brie was hoping it would hit home with teenage girls cause that's what the aim was. I guess a lotta White 40 year old men didn't like it and that was her response to a question about that. No biggie.

Shazam is actually the original Captain Marvel. DC won the rights to original Captian Marvel in a lawsuit.

Oodles of contradiction here.

Hold on, this throws her entire inclusivity crusade out the window 😂

I guess there isn’t room for everyone at the table after all.

She needs to deadlift. I don't think I have ever seen a girl who deadlifts a lot have a flat butt like that.

several comments above are as bad as anything she has said. It's funny how celebrities are held to a higher standard than others.

Movie stars are there to be objectified. Otherwise they wouldn’t be movie stars. #sorrynotsorry

you just proved my point. Society thinks there are different standards for different people. There shouldn't be but there is.

You would be ok with watching hideous people as your movie stars, for the sake of equal standards?

It’s not ok for people to desire and expect exceptionally attractive stars in their entertainment?

Thats what it is. Entertainment. Not feelings.

The repetition of this scenario is an incredible thing. And it's always the same. Someone says something about diversity/differences/agendas/whatever (Step 1). Step 2 - it inflames people. Step 3 - tirades on social media and or boards. Step 4 - tempers flare. Step 5 - people finally wear themselves out fighting.

And yet no one ever learns to just shut the f up anywhere from Step 1 to step 5. Everyone has to open their big fat mouth to be "heard". As if I haven't heard this repetition before and wasn't aware of it. Jeez.
It's a classic oase of lunacy (doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results). It's quite pathetic.

My only thoughts are 1) Make your movie. 2) Promote your movie. 3) Don't alienate anyone that might want to see your movie.

Her 15 minutes will be up before she knows it. Why make statements that alienate the core fan base of these types of movies?

Amen to this.
The only answer I can conceive is "See Step 1"...

white and black are not colors, they are the absence of color or at times can be the presence of all colors

What color is milk? What color is snow? Has Krayola lied to me all these years? Debate it all you want but, it's a ridiculous argument when it comes to the topic of this thread.

This thread lost its topic long ago.

But I think we solved it.

Those who are excited to see the movie, remain excited.

Those who are not interested in seeing the movie, remain uninterested.

YAWN.

I myself, was completely against seeing the movie. I foamed at the mouth at the mention of Brie Larson! I melted my entire Captain Marvel collection and burned the comics.

Until I read through this thread.

I'm a total convert. This will be a movie for the ages! I just wish I still had my action figures.
