I may have been at that same show! CT used to have some great places for shows, especially the Tune Inn before that closed. Ahhh CTHC

Hey, no kidding! I remember the Tune Inn. I went to CCSU in the 80s so we'd go to The Urban Jungle, Tune Inn, West Hartford Ballroom/The Agora, Toad's Place, The Webster, the Sports Palace in New Britain, etc. Used to see Leeway, DRI, Sick of it All, Agnostic Front, Biohazard, Overkill, and more. But I live in the northeast corner of CT so we'd go to shows in Rhode Island and Mass. Did you ever cross the border and see any shows at The Living Room in Providence? They had some awesome shows there!

So many bands I could list, lol. Yup, saw the Cro-Mags at The Living Room and at Lupo's. Saw them with Harley singing and once with John Joseph singing. Saw Murphy's Law and Agnostic Front at the last show at the old Lupo's. Saw Murphy's Law at Club Babyhead too. Saw some shows at The Strand and The Paladium in Worcester, MA. Man that was fun times

I've been on a metal kick lately. Really loving Ghost these days. Just found out that they're going to be in town in a couple of weeks, and the show is sold out. I've put out some feelers to try to find a way in, but so far no luck.

I've been enjoying the new Megadeth album "Dystopia". The lyrical content betrays Dave's increasingly conservative viewpoint, which doesn't align with my own, but it's not enough to distract me from enjoying the record. The riffs are great and the solos are sick. Best since RIP? Possibly!

Also found a bunch of stuff thanks to Amazon Prime. I've been revisiting mid/late Judas Priest. I didn't remember "Painkiller" being so awesome, but it is!

Try StubHub for Ghost tickets. Not sure where you are but there are listings for tickets there for some shows.

That Clash of the Titans show was awesome! Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and some new band named Alice in Chains playing in a giant field with no seats? Awesome.

My worst Lake Compounce story: I had 2 female friends who worked there for a few summers in the late 80s. They worked backstage and got to meet everyone, I think they did catering. I knew them because we all went to CCSU, so I didn't see them during the summer. Well, back in these days of rotary phones my sister ran up such a phone bill one summer that my mother turned off the phone for a week. Guess what, yup, I found out later that my friend tried to call me the night before Metallica played to tell me they had a backstage pass for me. All I ended up with was an autographed backstage pass instead of meeting Metallica 8(

You could also try Craisglist . or if you have nothing else to do the night of the show and still dont have a ticket . try to get tix from someone who has extra at the venue.
I had some extra to a Slayer show once in Detroit, Some people from Canada came over and needed to go so bad they gave me way more than the tix were worth. It was in that funny Canadian money . But I had no problem taking it .

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'll check them out! I figured if I wasn't lucky in finding something before hand, I'd go to the venue that night and see if anything turned up. Crossing my fingers!

Hmm, at Stubhub they have 34 tickets at $70! Pretty steep considering the venue is basically just a club, I may check some other avenues. But I'll keep looking!

I've been enjoying Ghost too. Very unique sound for a metal band. A good blend of old and new metal with great theatrics. Hope you can find some tickets.

And yes loving Dystopia as well.

Yeah, Ghost is great! I think the keys/organs (reminiscent of Deep Purple?) and almost pop vocals (love the harmonies) make for a very unique sound!

I definitely frequented a bunch only those clubs. I lived in Danbury so we ventured to the city (NYC) quite a bit for shows. We did have a few awesome bands and musicians come out of CT. Danbury alone had a few of my favorites, Into Another being one, as well as Shelter, Youth of Today, and Dismay.

Thurston Moore also came out of Bethel, CT. I always felt very lucky to have been exposed to so much local music. Especially Thurston because Sonic Youth is one of my all time favorite bands.

That is unfortunate to have missed going backstage to meet Metallica bit I'd give that up 1000 times over to have gotten the chance to see Alice in Chains live before Layne passed. That's one of the few bands I never got to see but always wanted to. Eventually I saw them with the replacement singer and he was incredibly impressive. Yet he will never compare to Layne.

Ah, see, I lived on the exact opposite side of CT as you. I'm closer to Boston than I am to Danbury. Providence is a 1/2 hour away.

I know how you feel, I'm always glad I can say I saw Metallica with Cliff.

I lived in Seattle when they found Layne's body

My sister worked there for a time. She got to meet Paula Abdul and others. I remember her telling me the story about the guys in The Cult, cat-calling at her and some of her co-workers.
