Revisiting how Superman exalted capitalistic & democratic American ideals8458

Superman was banned in Spain in 1964 for championing these ideals. So for my book about the man who represented DC Comics outside the US and Canada, I still need to find some Superman comic books published between 1950 & 1964 which clearly demonstrate what the Franco government was afraid of.

I know that because of the McCarthy political attacks on anything preceived as liberal, comic books including Superman, became more nationalistic and "patriotic."

I live in NY City. Can someone in my area who has a collection of Superman comic books from that era let me look through them at your place?

You might try contacting DC Comics directly. I believe they employee one or more comic historians (they used to, anyway). They might be able to provide information that will help you.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'm in contact with DC folks. But they have no records. No historian

You might want to head to a few LCS and / or conventions and see if you can talk with some dealers and panelists.
