I bought these because I had $40 burning a hole, plus cool conversation pieces Of course you are never sure, the Kirby looks more intriguing, although Billy is not a Kirby book. One way to be sure, send them to CBCS, I have a pile of Adams, Williamson and the like but it’s not cheap. I had a Stan Lee get disapproved, but I slabbed it anyway, and sold it cheap, removes it from the wild, unless it gets cracked. Anybody else have some questionables? ![]() ![]() Maybe these are legit? That would be cool! |

Sorry to bear bad news. Save your money and don't send them to CBCS. Those are 100% fake. Both signatures don't look right. Compare them to examples of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby sigs at http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/signee.asp Also note that they're both supposedly signed on beat-up low-value comics. Not the type of book someone takes to a convention to get signed by a comic book legend. They're the type of book a crook can buy for .25 cents and then fake a signature on to turn into $40. Good karma would be to throw those books out and not try to foist them off on anyone else. Otherwise, if you can send them back to the dealer who sold them to you, do it. Be cautious on eBay. While most of the con artists are busy faking sports and celebrity sigs (for the big money), there are a few there who regularly fake Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Bob Kane. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Again, sorry to do this to you. |

those signatures are easy enough to forge...coupled with very unusual comic choices to get signed...not saying they are fake but certainly theres red flags to suggest it.

No worries, figure I will take a look when they get here, maybe return them since they have a no return policy. Or keep them for fun, burn them someday. I would not ever sell them to anybody, not my style

Same angle, same size, most likely signed at the same time.

If you bought them from eBay or with PayPal, you can return them if they are forgeries. I've bought some sketches that were fake, seller had a no return policy, eBay stepped in and made the seller do the return. The seller put them back up and sold them, he was a crook. Your other option is to send them to Pgx, they will verify anything, lol

I think another sign is that you can clearly see each letter in "Stan's" sig, which suggests a conscious effort at writing each letter one at a time. More often his sig is bunched up at least at one spot- usually the ee's, I think, if not the whole thing.

Good points, I will keep and burn one day. Somebody else will own them if I don’t. I of course have a few unverified signatures, but I don’t collect signatures. Got a couple as gifts, founded some older ones signed inside. I would bet the old, on the splash or story page are likely legit. I’ll keep them as a reminder to me why I don’t buy signatures. Thanks all |
