He could have at least rang the doorbell before running away.

can skip first 1 min of the video. Well at least he handled the package with care. I was actually expecting the package to be thrown!

@Paulbg2000 I was going to say FedEx, but you are right. FedEx would not have made it to the door.

why do they do stuff like this?

Is it just pure laziness? Supervisor say "don't deliver packages today, we have to get rid of the door cards"?

I dont get it. Do your job. Some people don't have one...geez.

The next package may end up in pieces now that she has given these recordings of him to the national media.

Here's the actual source....not much more there than the video....but yeah, her house is identifiable and that postal worker won't like that she posted this...he should probably be designated another route on top of disciplinary action.

This has happened to me several times, but can't prove it because I have no video. I have literally spent an entire day at home waiting for a package to be delivered only to check online with the comments "attempted delivery, no secure location to leave package"...but nobody rang my door bell!! ONLY happens when the regular USPS carrier is off or on vacation...its like the fill-ins are in some almighty rush to be somewhere else! I often wondered if they have double routes when filling in for a regular who is off? To me it makes more sense to ring the doorbell than to fill out that slip. I have complained several times last year...normally I get an apology and am told the delivery driver will come back, but they NEVER show back up that same day!

I yelled at my mail man just before Christmas. I heard someone at my front door and ran over to it. There my mail man was, filling out some form.

I showed him how the door bell worked and he didn't seem too amused.

I fortunately work from home and know my mailman, UPS and FedEx drivers very well. I am signed up for email alerts showing me all USPS items being delivered that day. When I have a comic coming, I can count on Jeff my mailman ringing my bell and handing me my package with a smile. Maybe it's the offer of a cold one on a hot summer day, or the bag of Christmas cookies my wife baked him. Bottom line , get to know your drivers and being courteous goes a long way! Nuff said.

just curious since this thread is about deliveries... has anyone had recent problems w/ USPS getting your packages delivered in recent days?

If you can't get to know your delivery persons due to work hours, all I can suggest is a large mailbox so the precious cargo doesn't get bent and destroyed.

My best guess is that the person is familiar with the route and the person is usually not home, so on a cold day he doesn’t want to make two trips to the door (the first of which he’d be standing there) and rolled he dice the owner wasn’t home. Otherwise it makes no logical sense to take more time filling out a card Which takes longer than simply walking to the door.

The other thing I don’t understand is why not fill out the card first, then walk up to the door with the package and card ready to go in case they were home? Do they get in trouble for filling out a card but not using it?

Don’t think this warrant a firing. What wou”d warrant a firing would be all the videos where you see the couriers throwing parcels

All I can say is my delivery people (usps, ups, fedex) are great. Ring the bell, make sure to get a signature if needed. Never a problem.

I know my delivery driver well and have had many conversations with her...never have issues with her. It's only the people that fill in for her on her days off when there are sometimes issues... Not easy to get to know the fill-in drivers.

@brysb That EXACT thing happened to me just before Christmas. My mom, brother and I were at my Mom's house all day long (literally) on Christmas Eve. A package was supposed to be delivered by USPS but it never arrived. Exactly at 8:00 CST, the status of the package changed to show that message you mentioned even though we were at the house all day.

The message stated at no one was home, the front porch wasn't accessible and the mailbox could not be reached. All I can say is that, if you saw my Mom's house, you'd know that that statement was not true.

He just needed to use the bathroom really badly. He thought he was getting out of there quickly and it didn't work. He was also arguing with his wife on the phone while in the truck. Have some compassion.

@X51 I did and I do. Christmas Eve (and really the entire week before Christmas) must be a rough time for all delivery folks. I was simply answering the question that @brysb asked. Nothing more.
