I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user

Graded will cost you close to $2K, not sure about raw.

I picked up a graded 6.5 from MCS for around $770 not too long ago.

I have no idea what I would spend for $1,000

For me, most books I want aren't worth a $1,000 or they are worth way MORE than $1,000

The $1,000 range is an odd one for me.

Two heavy hitters would be Hulk 181 9.6 and Giant Size X-Men 1 9.6

I wouldn't mind an X-Men 101 SS 9.6 but still not a $1,000 lol! Closer to 2.

.... a thousand dollars. I honestly don't think I would buy anything.

The video below has a raw 9.2 valued around $2,500 (around the 11.20 mark).

Interesting video. Good luck finding a 9.2 #1 at all! I don’t doubt you could get the $2500 pretty easily. I think Scooby-Doo 1 has the most upside of any Bronze Age comic. That’s why I decided to buy in now. Not only are we talking about one of the most iconic characters of all time, but the supply of these in grade is drastically lower than most of the Bronze Age superhero stuff.

If you want high-end, maybe a Batman Adventures 12 (9.8 would be tough for $1000, but a 9.6) or NYX 3? Harley has at least one more movie in the next couple years, and Laura Kinney will be in something eventually.

On the pressing front I've only every used CBCS but they seemed to do a great job. I've seen lots of other people recommend CFP https://www.cfpcomics.com/

Scooby Doo rocks. We actually had 2 Scooby Doo movie nights at the church for everyone to enjoy. Our boys youth group the Squires hosted it. Next year will be the 3rd Annual.

Yeah. From a kid’s perspective, up to that point, Scooby was special because he could talk.

But Scrappy spoke perfect English? So, this made Scooby look like he was the simple minded uncle.

Not only that, but he effectively “broke up the band”. I found myself wondering where the rest of the gang went.

Herbie the robot and Dyno-Mutt are low on the list too.

I was in this situation earlier this year. I bought an ASM 300 CBCS 9.6 and spent the remaining $350 on a variety of other books.
To do it again now that I have my 300... maybe a Silver Surfer 1.
I like to get books that have investment potential, but I also have to like them. This narrows my search drastically. I really want an FF1, but $1K isn't getting me more than maybe a cover. Maybe GRR FF1, but it's not the same.

For me, this is as close as I will ever come to owning a high grade FF #1.

For what it's worth, I agree with hulk 181. Every grade I own has jumped significantly in cost. Some of them have doubled and tripled what I paid. Granted we are talking quite a few years.

I have quite a few of the other books mentioned in various grades and nothing has increased in value as much and in the same time frame.

Heck yeah! I still watch Johnny Quest sometimes. I picked up the original series for iTunes a year or two ago on sale for $5. Still a great show to kick back with after a hard nights work.
