If you were to drop $1,000 today, what would you snap up? Graded or raw? Age? What would you do?

A nice copy, probably graded, of either X-Men #2 or #4.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
If I had $1,000 burning a hole in my pocket I might go for this book.

Someone has it on ebay for $999.

Great options! I am getting a sense there are a lot of X-Men fans here. Would you invest the entire amount in one book or into a couple books?

I'd buy Spider-Man...highest grade key I could find...ASM 2,3,4,6,9,13,15,50....any one of those.

64 is the last one I need for an entire Uncanny run so that's the only reason I would shell out a stupid amount. Honestly, I would probably upgrade my #3 and a few others with $1k and buy a nice VF copy of 64. All raw purchases.

1 book. 2 at the most. It would have to be a key. Batman 181 would be nice.

The two comics at the top of my list right now are Looney Tunes 1 and Little Dot 1. Unfortunately $1000 wouldn’t go far for either of these. You could probably get a complete beater copy of Dot for that or a fair range Looney Tunes, if you can find them! The other two books I am hot to have are St John’s Casper 4 and 5 in north of fine condition. The thousand would probably be enough for both of those if you bought at guide price, but again, good luck finding them. I have been looking for a long time and have come up empty!

Planet Comics (few different issues I could go for) or Iron Man #1

I'd only spend that much on a Marvel silver age key. Something that presents well but obviously low grade. If there was nothing that fit my price, I'd keep the money.

I’d say Batman 121 (1st Mr. Freeze) , but sadly, you can’t even get a 4.0 for $1k.

Probably Amazing Spider-Man #4 in 3.0-4.0 range.

A nice Amazing Spider-Man #50 (7.0 range) would be a good pull as well.

A 9.8 1st print of TMNT #2 would be a possibility too.

Probably this. Though, I'd prefer a higher grade raw copy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/House-of-Secrets-92-CGC-4-5-KEY-1st-SWAMP-THING-Len-Wein-Bernie-Wrightson-TV-DC/163353472758?hash=item2608a02ef6:g:ZIgAAOSwkFZb7G-b:sc:USPSPriority!06405!US!-1:rk:11:pf:0

I almost suggested that book. It has absolutely exploded as well.

About two years ago, my wife got me a CGC 8.0 for quite a bit less than that.

Yeah, I remember looking at it a few years ago when I could have afforded to get a decent copy. I wish I had now.

Scooby-Doo 1, raw or graded. Around 6.0-8.0 would be fine. It is just a book I rarely see when I have any money.

@Darkseid_of_town and @xkonk I was not thinking of GS X-Men 1 because I had my eyes on high grade CGC copies that skyrocketed, but that is a great choice. I was also looking at FF52s, which seem to have cooled a little and likely to go up again in the near future. I am checking out each of the options mentioned above too.

To all: Who are the best people/companies to handle pressing and cleaning?

Graded will cost you close to $2K, not sure about raw.
