| In an earlier interview, executive producer Barry Johnson, who worked both on the original and the reboot, added to Edlund's comments, saying that The Tick will be "darker and more grounded" than the original take on the character, with a "real story, a real hero's myth." This is from an interview on the IGN website. |

| Going the more "grounded" route would really eliminate a lot of crazy stuff we like about the Tick. Chairface Chipndale Man Eating Cow Arthur's constant desire not to get punched in the face. |
